were worried, too, that made it real. The reality in front of us is more than I could have ever hoped for, but it’s also brought up a lot of fears and emotions I’m not really sure how to deal with.”
    “I can only imagine.”
“Anyway,” she says, discreetly swiping her cheek clean before facing me. “I’m sorry I was a dick to you all weekend.”
“Hush, Baby,” I whisper, nudging her chin up to face me. “I love you.”
    “I love you, too.”
“Come here, give me some sugar,” I whisper, bending to kiss her gently and loving how her lips part slightly, granting me access.
Pulling away slightly after a moment, she gives me a chaste kiss and leans against me again.
“It pains me to admit it, but you were right to wait and talk to her,” she admits, playfully nudging me and unleashing my favorite rogue dimples. “You know, I really hate it when you’re right about stuff.”
“I know, Babe,” I chuckle. “Just for the record, I’m losing my shit, too. I don’t think I’ve slept all weekend.”
“I’m sorry,” she starts, resting her hand on my jaw. “I’ve been totally selfish. I was so focused on my own fears I didn’t stop to consider how my behavior would affect you.”
Resting my forehead against hers, I revel in her coconut scent as I hold her eyes.
“You definitely came to fuckin’ play,” I smirk down at her, loving the way the crimson fills her cheeks. “I gotta be honest, Baby. If this was anything else, I would have maybe made it to day two.”
“Aww,” she chuckles. “You’re so sweet making up crap just so I’ll feel better.”
“I’m not making it up,” I laugh.
“Whatever, you told me you were going to make me wait a year !”
“I know what I said,” I nod, holding her eyes. “And if we walk in there and she says it’s not safe, then I will totally wait a year for you, Sophie. It will be absolute agony and I probably won’t sleep a wink, but you’re worth every single second.”
“I’d wait for you, too, Lovebug,” she whispers, reaching for my neck to pull me to give me a chaste kiss.
We sit in silence for a long time, Sophie tracing the lines in my palm and humming softly against my shoulder. Before too long, she looks up at me and breaks the silence with her soft voice.
    “Baby?”
    “Hmm?”
    “I’m still asking her.”
“Not if I beat you to it, Princess.”

    Sophie
“So,” Dr. Swift says, smiling sweetly at me. “How have you been feeling since your last visit, Sophie?”
“Good,” I answer. “A little nausea and I’ve been very sleepy, but otherwise I feel fine.”
“Great,” she nods, leading me to the scale and jotting down notes on my chart. “Both of those are very normal. Your weight and blood pressure are right on target. Why don’t we go ahead and get started with your exam? Hop on up there,” she smiles. “If you have any questions, feel free to ask them whenever you’d like.”
“Okay,” I nod, positioning myself onto the table.
As she does her thing, my eyes dart to Chase who is remaining silent, simply brushing the hair away from my face, looking anywhere except at where the doctor is sitting.
“Everything looks good,” she says with a cheery voice, standing to discard her gloves into the trash and moving toward the sink to wash her hands.
I look up at Chase again who is staying tightlipped and listening to her intently as she talks about the nice weather outside.
    Are you freaking kidding me?
Nudging him, he glances down at me and gives me a smirk when he sees the look on my face.
    “Ask her,” I mouth silently.
    “Babe, she’s talking,” he whispers.
“I don’t care!” I tell him under my breath.
“I’m just so happy to see it’s beginning to warm up out there.”
“Yes ma’am, I know what you mean,” he says politely to where she’s still facing away from us before glancing down at me, amusement dancing in his eyes. “I can’t just cut her off, Sweetheart. That’s
