carefully onto the turntable and lowered the tonearm. I walked straight over to Andrew and kissed him soundly. “You’re remarkable.” He blinked and straightened his sweater vest like he was trying to brush off my compliment. I lifted his chin so he looked directly into my eyes. “You’re a remarkable man, Andrew. Now, about that steak…”
We cut salad and cooked steak, all while Andrew recounted his day at work. I laughed as he told me the story that had him and Shell in stitches, and he listened intently as I told him how Lola did the makeup for a marketing photoshoot while I handed her brushes and palettes like a nurse hands a surgeon scalpels. He didn’t believe me that there are over a hundred shades of pink, and not only did Lola have them all, but I could almost discern the difference between Ego and Swish , and I was now considered an expert in kabuki brushes.
After dinner we planted ourselves in front of the TV for a while, watching Jeopardy. I was leaning back and Andrew was half laying on me with our hands entwined on his chest as we tried to outdo each other with correct answers.
When the show cut to an ad break, like I was a contestant on Jeopardy, I said, “I’d like to choose my favourite subject, thanks, Alec.”
Andrew chuckled and played along. “And that is?”
    “Andrew.”
He squeezed my hand. “Okay, first clue. Andrew’s—”
I pressed down on his chest like it was a buzzer. “Bzzzz. What is nine inches?”
    He laughed. “Correct.”
“Have you really ever measured it?”
    “Veto.”
    “So that’s a yes.”
    “No.”
    I laughed. “Next clue.”
    “Will you interrupt this one?”
    “Yes.”
    He chuckled. “Andrew’s favourite—”
I used his chest as a buzzer again. “Bzzzz. What is sex and food? And music and conversation, but mostly sex and food.”
He laughed, vibrating against my chest. “Correct.”
    “I’m good at this game.”
Andrew snorted before he gave another clue. “Andrew said we’d be doing this tonight.”
“Bzzzz.” I buzzered him again. “What is rimming and fucking?”
He burst out laughing and got up. He held his hand out for me and pulled me to my feet. “Correct again. You are tonight’s winner. Want to collect your prize?”
Keeping hold of his hand, I led him upstairs. “Hell yes, I do.”

“Look at your smile,” Lola said. She and Daniela were taking the piss out of me. I’d been wearing one of those ridiculous smiles again, apparently.
“I’m not saying anything that will only incriminate me further.” I walked to the door. “I’m doing a coffee run. Speak now or forever hold your peace.”
    Emilio grabbed his junk.
    “Not that piece.”
“Oh,” he said, laughing me off. “Coffee would be great.”
I held my hand out for Lola. “My fair lady, care to accompany me?”
“Will you give me all the dirty details?”
“Absolutely not. A gentleman doesn’t kiss and tell. Or have fantastic sex, rim jobs, and blowjobs and tell, as the case might be.”
Emilio put his hands over his ears. “Oh man, la la la la la.” Daniela clapped her hands together and laughed, and Lola grinned as she skipped over to me and slipped her hand through my arm. We laughed all the way to the café.

Friday night couldn’t come quick enough. I hadn’t seen Andrew since Tuesday night. We spoke every night on the phone and we texted each other often, but I hadn’t touched him, kissed him, or felt him against me in three days.
    It was officially ridiculous.
I loved spending time with my friends. Loved it . But when I thought about Andrew, I got that giddy, jittery-butterflies kind of feeling. He made my heart lose rhythm—when his name flashed up on my phone, the sound of his voice, the buzz of my phone knowing it was a message from him. My stupid heart tripped over in my chest.
    It was kind of wonderful.
Our plan was to spend Friday night and Saturday morning together, then do our own thing on Saturday night,
