Lisa Marie as she wiped the counters at Starbucks on Saturday.
The store had finally gotten quiet after a big rush, and Lisa Marie was practically glowing. Guys from her school had been coming in all day, flirting like crazy, competing for her attention. Hard as it was to believe, Lisa Marie seemed to be the center of the Starbucks universeâand she was loving it.
Starbucks was raining men!
But that didnât mean she was going to start acting like a slut.
Was Graham right? Had she actually agreed to meet four different guys at the prom?
âNoooo,â she said, shaking her head slowly. âI donât think so. Wait. Who?â
âLast week, that guy with the tennis racket,â Graham said, ticking them off on his fingers. âHe was the first.â
âBradley?â Lisa Marie had already forgotten about him. Yeah, when she thought back, she had to admit that she had said yes when he asked her to hang with him at the prom. âOh, but he was just . . . I mean . . . he just . . . all I said was yeah, Iâd meet him there. I mean, I donât think he thought . . .â
To tell the truth, she wasnât exactly sure what Bradley thought.
âUm-hm.â Graham eyed her knowingly. âThen those other two came in together. The ones with the obscenely outrageous testosterone levels.â
âJohn and Ramone? Yeah, but . . . they . . . I mean . . . they canât think of it as a solo date, can they?â Lisa Marie stammered, embarrassed. She hadnât even remembered about Bradley when she was talking to John and Ramone. âI mean, they were together and we just said, yeah, weâd hang out at the prom. Whatâs wrong with that?â
âUm-hm.â Graham still wasnât buying it. âWhat about the luscious hunky one just now?â
âWho, Marco?â
Wait a minute. Luscious? Hunky? So that was it. Graham was jealous. Here he was lusting after half the guys sheâd been flirting with, and then getting on her case for being too available! How hypocritical could a guy get?
âYouâre hot for him!â Lisa Marie laughed. She hadnât realized Graham was gay.
âMaybe,â Graham admitted, âbut Iâm still right. Counting your not-so-little friend Marco, youâve made four dates for the prom.â
Lisa Marie replayed the scene with Marco in her head. Was it really a date?
He had come in with his hair all blown from riding the new Vespa his dad gave him for his birthday. Lisa Marie pointed out that he should have been wearing a helmet, and Marco had joked that as a congressmanâs son, he had âhelmet immunity.â
âItâs like diplomatic immunity,â Marco had said. âFor heads.â
It wasnât funny, but Marco had the kind of self-confidence that made everything he said seem cool and/or amusing.
âLucky you,â was the only thing Lisa Marie could think of to say. She was off her game today.
âSo I hear youâre going to meet up with John and Ramone at the prom,â Marco had said, faking jealousy, which was obviously just his way of coming on to her. Marco couldnât really be jealous of anyone . He was so good-looking and such a player, he was never at a loss for girls.
âWeâre going to hang,â Lisa Marie had said.
âWhat about me?â Marco had stuck out his mouth in a cute pout. âDonât I get any?â
God, he could be so brazen! But thatâs what made him sexy. Boldness was his strong suit.
âYou can have your share,â Lisa Marie had said, flirting back.
âOkay,â Marco said, pointing a finger at her. âRememberâyou promised.â
She laughed. It was just a game, right? Just talk. He didnât think she meant anything much by it, she was pretty sure.
Lisa Marie felt Graham watching her closely.
âOkay, maybe I did say Iâd meet four guys,â Lisa Marie admitted. âBut I doubt any
