She’s vulnerable Max. She thinks she’s going to die. You took advantage of her.”
Max thought this was a strange conversation even for Ryan. He just thought too much about everything. “She took advantage of me. She shouldn’t be so fucking hot.”
“You know better than anyone that you can’t have distractions when you’re a hunter. Distractions can get you killed.” Three distinct worry lines formed on Ryan’s forehead.
“Look little brother.” Max raised an eyebrow.
“Why do you always call me little when I’m bigger and taller than you?”
“Shut up. Look kid, we’re not in love. We’re not going to the chapel. We’re not on the road to matrimony. We just did a few yoga positions.”
“Yoga right, downward facing dog.” Ryan snickered.
Max winked at Ryan. “Is reverse cowgirl a yoga position? If it is, that’s my fave.”
Ryan grinned and shook his head. He couldn’t believe how easy it was for Max to bed women. It was like he had some magic love potion. Women rarely turned Max down if ever.
Ryan was too shy to approach women and half the time he never could even sense when a woman was interested in him. Usually Max would have to point it out with one of his vulgar quips. Max would say something like, Ryan she wants to ride your freight train or Ryan she wants to show you her hot tub. Ryan’s favorite was, hey kid she wants to play on your Ferris wheel. Having Max around had its advantages. He was the best hunter he knew. His instincts were always sharp. He deserved to be number one even though Ryan wished his brother wasn’t in danger.
Moments later Scar skipped down the stairs with a backpack on her back. She felt real good. There was no need for her to hide it or deny it. Max had made her come like she had never come before. He was skilled and she had to admit to herself he was number one in more ways than one. She wanted to feel him inside her again. She longed for his kisses in all the right places. He was trouble and she knew it but he was the kind of trouble she wanted to get into time and time again.
Scar headed to the parking lot and straight toward Max and Ryan. Max watched her curves as she sauntered closer toward him. One side of his lips curved into a smile. It was like she controlled his face.
Ryan took Scar’s duffel bag and tossed it into the trunk. He slammed the trunk shut. Max walked and stood by the driver’s door studying his cell phone. He was trying not to gawk at her. Max looked up as Scar approached.
    “That was quick.” He stated.
    “I said fifteen minutes.”
“Yeah you did.” Max said with a smirk. “But woman are slow.”
    “I’m fast.”
“I agree. Here, I got breakfast, coffee and donuts.” Max grabbed the hot coffee off the top of the truck and handed it to Scar. Her curly Afro was slicked back in a smooth ponytail. Max liked that look on her, clean, sleek. You could really see more of her pretty face he thought to himself. He rarely saw any woman twice and hanging out with them the next day never ever happened. But it didn’t feel weird to him. He didn’t feel like running or treating her any differently than he had before they had sex.
This was all new territory to Max but he wasn’t scared by it. He savored it. He embraced it because it felt good. It felt nice to think about Scar. It felt nice caring about someone. It felt really great having a floating feeling in his stomach. He had something to smile about for a change.

CHAPTER 8

Walt was restless. He had been out all night looking for a kill that wouldn’t come so darn easy. All his kills were easy prey. He had once been in the hunter life and he was stronger now so killing unsuspecting humans was getting tedious and boring.
He was sure the rest of his crew felt the same way. He strolled down the street until he came upon the house where the rest of his vamp gang was held up.
Inside the vacant suburban house the vampires were restless. Walt walked down a wooden
