first looking in the kitchen and then peering in the bedrooms.
“Matthew isn’t here,” Gina told her when she returned. “Business called so I’m told.”
“How long are you staying here?” She demanded. “ You do know that you are in danger, Miss Deverell,” she told her firmly? “And you needn’t think this is just the ravings of some jealous ex wife either. I’m over Matthew and I don’t envy any woman who falls under his spell, believe me.”
Gina shook her head. “Matthew isn’t dangerous. He wouldn’t hurt me – not really hurt me,” she replied with growing doubt and saw Lisa’s self satisfied smile.
“He’s probably hurt you already. I know what he does and how he operates. All his talk of you being in control – of you having your safeword and then…” she paused , watching Gina flush. “And then gagging you so tight so you can’t use it,” she added confidently. “I know him, Gina. I was married to him, remember.”
Gina sat down on the sofa – had he done those same things to her?
“I know what you must be thinking – but no – I was his wife, I was never his sub. And that Gina is the difference between us and why I know everything about Matthew . I never let him restrain me or use those things he has and I never let him fuck me in that room of his either .” She paused , her own face flushed with emotion. She still loved him, Gina thought.
“How did he get you here? Do something dreadful did you? Let me guess - you found whatever it is Dark Electronics is developing in his penthouse that night and he found out and blackmailed you into coming here with him ?”
Gina nodded, this woman was amazing.
“Except that you didn’t – he lied to you.”
“I don’t know what you mean – I did find something and like you said , the new product,” she insisted but she then realised she probably shouldn’t have told her this – after all she was the sister of Matthew’s biggest rival .
“No you didn’t Gina. You found a rather snazzy tablet computer and plans to manufacture and sell it cheap.”
Gina stared at her wide eyed. That’s exactly what she ’d found.
“He tricked you. But h e was really trying to trick me – well Benito . I was suppose to find it, tell my brother who would instantly go into manufacture himself in order to beat Matthew to market, cut his prices and make a huge loss. Planet stock would have plummeted. So you see, Gina , you did Benito a favour that night and this – bringing you here is just Matthew’s revenge for spoiling his plans.”
“You could be lying,” Gina levelled at her. “All of this could just be an elaborate ploy to find out what I know.”
Lisa tapped a number into her cell phone and handed it to her.
“Your step mother, Grace Deverell, she knows the truth,” she said handing her the phone.
Gina spoke to Grace and listened carefully as she told her more about Kyle Hastings’s visit and what he’d told her. She believed him and apparently Kyle had been able to offer some documentation as proof.
“Dark Electronics brought that tablet out at that price months ago, Gina,” she confirmed. “Lisa is going to help you to come home. So please trust her and do as she says.”
Gina looked at Lisa – why would she want to help her?
“Benito,” she nodded. “Benito insists I get you out of here and far away from Matthew so he can’t hurt you anymore .
Gina nodded – she wanted to cry – to fly at Lisa and call her a liar but she couldn’t. Grace believed them and deep inside so did Gina now.
“Be ready – I don’t know the detail but we’ll get you away from here. But make no mistake Gina, if Matthew suspects anything he’ll keep you here – you’ll be even more of a prisoner than you are now.”
Lisa left as quickly as she’d arrived leaving Gina with a mountain of questions and no answers.
She tried to relax; she lay on a lounger in
