“Down, girl. I only sniffed him. No
touching. However, he’s so hot, if you don’t want him, I’d be glad to borrow
him—”
Before Araya knew what the hell she was doing, she grabbed
her sister by the hair and pulled her to her feet, her other hand balled into a
fist. Valia, being a fully transformed Sempire , had always been much
stronger than Araya. She still was but Araya could feel her own strength
increasing since feeding on Kean. Valia blocked Araya’s punch and held her at
arm’s length, the grin never leaving her face.
“Yep, you got it bad. So, is this fierce possessiveness
love, lust or addiction?” She didn’t give Araya a chance to answer. “Knowing
you, I’d bet on love.” She crinkled her face in mock disgust.
“I don’t love him. I hardly even know him,” she denied.
“Well, maybe it’s a little of all three. Are you calm enough
for me to let go? I can’t have you marring my awesomeness.”
Araya realized she had been about to hit her sister. Why the
hell did she care if her sister borrowed Kean? For all she cared, Valia
could have him. Araya wanted him out of her room. Out of her life. He’d doomed
her to being the whore she never wanted to be. So why did those thoughts make
her insides wince? What if her mother was wrong? What if she was already
reliant on him?
Valia released her and handed her the bottle of wine she
must have set down before attacking. “Drink up. Hopefully it’ll improve your
attitude. Although, I kind of like you feisty like this. It’s great to see some
life in you.”
Araya stumbled to the wrought iron table and fell into the
seat next to it. Addicted to an Incubus. One eighth Incubus. What the hell
would she do now? She couldn’t let her mother hold him as a prisoner. He didn’t
deserve that even though he qualified as a first-class bastard. She was back to
square one she supposed. Denying the one thing that would keep her alive. But
if her mother knew, she’d never let Kean go. No matter what. She couldn’t let
her know.
“Valia, don’t tell Mother about my outburst, okay?” Araya
asked.
Valia snorted. “Of course not. None of her business. But
why?”
“I want her to let Kean go, if she thinks I’m addicted, she
won’t.”
Valia pursed her pink lips. “But if you are, you’ll need
him. I don’t want you to suffer anymore. Especially not after seeing your
transformation.”
“Please Valia. He’s only an eighth. Even Mother told me the
chances of that were slim with his diluted semen.”
Valia looked thoughtful for a moment. “Yeah, that’s true.
Maybe mild withdrawals but nothing major. Okay. I’m in as long as you promise
to take care of yourself from now on. I’m so excited for us to go out cruising
for…”
Araya’s mind wandered as her sister blathered on and on
about picking up males. She had to talk her mother into letting Kean go. If she
wasn’t already dependent on him she would be after a few more feedings. She
knew she’d not be able to resist for long with him in such close proximity and
after experiencing such amazing pleasure at his skilled hands. Her mother
wanted her to feed from him a few times though. Damn her.
She didn’t see any way around it. She had no clue how to
remove the collar from Kean’s neck, and he couldn’t leave with it on. She’d
have to do it. She’d have to feed from him one more time. Surely her mother
would accept twice. Once with him had had such a dramatic effect on her, twice
should be good enough. She’d convince her mother she’d converted and couldn’t
wait to get on with the rest of her Sempire life.

Kean sat. Waiting. Waiting for Araya and her sister to
finish gossiping or whatever it was females did. He’d given her space for as
long as he could stand it and he needed to make her believe he hadn’t intended
to trick her. Most importantly that he hadn’t used her. He didn’t like her
anger directed at him. The hurt in her eyes gnawed at his guts. And he
