took a step back.
“Your scent is…” Her eyes widened and she jumped back from
him. “What are you?”
Shit. Another fucking Sempire to deal with. “I’m
Kean. You?”
“That’s not what I meant.” She pouted. “I’m Valia. Now what are you?”
“Can’t you tell?”
To his surprise she burst out laughing and slapped her hands
on her thighs. “Mom saddled her daughter with an Incubus? Holy shit. That is insane. ”
After doubling over with laughter, she said, “Okay, well, that’s different.
Where’s my sister?”
Ah, he should have known by the eyes they were related. The
long, wavy hair was the same too, only very dramatic differences in color.
“She’s getting drunk on the balcony.”
“Fantastic. Think I’ll join her,” she paused and looked at
him thoughtfully, “unless you were about to join her.”
She winked at him. He winked back. “No, I think she’d as
soon push me off the balcony as look at me right now.”
Valia considered this a moment. “Mom told me Araya was doing
well but wouldn’t say anything else. She was pretty bitchy. I take it Araya’s
pissed she gave in. No biggie. She’ll get over it soon enough. I can’t wait for
her to hit the clubs with me.”
* * * * *
Araya had already downed half the bottle of wine. She stood,
looking over the balcony wall, fuming with anger, wishing she had simply jumped
over the side and ended it quickly six months ago. But she couldn’t do it then
and wouldn’t do it now.
She spun around as a voice interrupted her rage.
“Holy shit! You are looking H-O-T, girl!” Her sister rushed
over to her and spun her around, looking her up and down.
Araya couldn’t stop the warmth that spread through her at
her sister’s appraisal of her. Growing up half-human in a family of
full-blooded, stunningly beautiful Sempires left her feeling lacking in
the looks department. And now, well, she felt beautiful for the first time in
her life. Thanks to Kean. The bastard .
Her sister jumped up and plopped her butt on the balcony
railing. “Tell me all about it,” she said excitedly. “Every last detail. He looks
and smells yumalicious.” Valia’s eyes rolled back in her head as she fanned
herself with her hand.
Had Araya not been so angry, she might have laughed at her
sister’s dramatics.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Araya said.
Valia pouted. “You’re a party pooper. You had an Incubus !
You have to tell me something.”
When Araya didn’t say anything, Valia said, “Fine. I’ll
guess.” She looked up and tapped her forefinger to her chin as if in deep
thought. “Okay. My guess is you got tired of the whole dying thing , got
on your hands and knees, with your ass in the air and demanded he shove it in
your—”
“Stop!” Araya yelled at her sister. “Do you have to be
so-so—”
“Totally awesome and imaginative?” Valia asked with a huge
grin on her face. “Yes, yes I do. It’s a gift. And if you won’t tell me, I’ll
have to keep making things up.”
Araya rolled her eyes, but couldn’t hold back a laugh any
longer. She loved her sister. Deep down she envied her sister’s bluntness and
her ease with her sexuality. Nothing scared or embarrassed her. And, of course,
her beauty was indescribable.
“That’s more like it,” Valia teased. “You’re much more
attractive when you laugh. The pissed-off frowny face wasn’t working for you.
So how’d it happen?”
Araya’s entire body heated as images of Kean stroking his
magnificent cock filled her mind. She gave her sister the much abbreviated
version of the story.
“Wow. I understand why you couldn’t resist suck—” She tamed
her words when Araya shifted awkwardly. “Gave in to him. I started drooling
after getting a whiff of him.”
Araya growled. Thinking of her sister drooling over Kean had
her ready to shove her sister off the balcony. Her gut had instantly tensed and
she’d had to forcibly restrain herself.
“Whoa,” Valia said.
