actually been able to get to know her yet.
She was in her room playing with her horses. She had a lot of horses, actually. She even had a swing hanging from her ceiling. Wow. This little girl had everything.
â€œHi, Skylynn!” I crouched down and she came running up to me to give me a hug.
â€œViolet! Do you want to play with my horses with me?” She was the cutest four-year-old I’d ever seen. She had soft blond hair and big brown eyes.
â€œI would love to! Tell me, what are their names?” She grabbed my hand and dragged me over to where she was playing. “This is Daisy.” She picked up a small white horse with yellow hair. I could tell where she got the name from. “This is Peanut and Buttercup,” she continued, pulling out two more horses that looked quite similar. “Nash gave me these four. Here is Waterbugs, Nashty, Bae, and Vine. He named all of them.”
I laughed. “Of course he did.”
She had about ten more horses and she told me all of their names. I was trying to memorize all of them but there were so many. She had horses named after her mom, dad, and all her brothers. The horse named Nash wasn’t the prettiest.
She grabbed my hand and pulled me into a corner of her room. “This is my favorite horse,” she said. It was huge. It was big enough that she could climb on top of it and sit on it.
â€œWhat’s her name?” I asked her.
â€œI haven’t named her yet. She needs to be perfect.” She was brushing the horse’s hair when she turned around with a huge smile on her face.
â€œNo. Violet. That’s her name! I wanted her name to be perfect and you’re perfect.” She gave me a hug.
â€œAww, Sky. Thank you so much, but I’m not perfect. You are, sweetie.”
She pulled away. “No, I want to be just like you when I’m older. You’re very pretty and sweet. None of Nash’s or Hayes’s friends play with me.” She ran over and grabbed a card. “Can you write Violet on her name card?”
I did and she tied it around the horse’s neck. I was about to say something when Nash walked in.
â€œNash! I finally named my horse.” She ran up to him and he picked her up. “Did you name her Weave like I suggested?” We laughed.
â€œShe showed me the horses you named. Waterbugs is my favorite,” I said. He started to laugh a little bit.
â€œNo . . . I named her Violet because Violet is perfect and I wanted my horse to be perfect, too.” He smiled and she wrapped her arms around him.
â€œI think that is wonderful, Sky. Now—how is my Nashty doing today?” He picked up his horse and started playing with Skylynn. He was such a sweet brother. My brother never played with me when I was younger.
I sat down and played with them for a couple of more minutes before my phone rang. “Hello?” I answered.
â€œHey. It’s Hayden. Mom and Dad are going to be here in a couple of minutes. Can you come home?” he asked.
â€œSure. Give me a minute.” I hung up and bent down to pick up Skylynn.
â€œI have to go, sweetie.” She looked at me with sad eyes.
â€œNo . . . I don’t want you to go.” She wrapped her arms around me and lay her head on my shoulder.
â€œI have to go see my mommy and daddy. Nash will play with you, okay?” Her eyes perked up when I said his name. She really loved him, that girl.
    â€œOkay. I love you, Violet.”
â€œI love you too, Sky.” I gave her another hug and kissed her on the head.
â€œI’ll be right back, Sky,” Nash said. He pulled me out of the room and gave me another hug. Then he leaned in and gave me a quick kiss.
â€œI’ll see you tomorrow, Nash,” I said, picking up my bag and putting my shoes on. I walked out the door.
â€œLove ya,” he called. I turned around and smiled at him.
    â€œLove you too, Nashty.” He
