left-over pizza and went to bed. I was planning on reading until Kellan called, but two pages into the book, I was out. I woke up around 4 am with my phone flashing 10 missed calls…all from Kellan.
I looked at the last time he called, it was 3:40, so I knew he wasn’t going to sleep until I talked to him so that he’d know I was alright.
“My God, Abby; w here the hell have you been?” he asked, sounding both angry and relieved.
“I’m sorry. I still don’t feel well. I was waiting for your call, but fell asleep while reading.”
“Okay, as long as you’re alright.”
    “I’m fine.”
“But, you’re still feeling sick? You’ve been sick for over a month.”
“I can’t shake it, whatever it is. I’ll be fine. I haven’t been sleeping well. I think I’ll stay home from school tomorrow…or I guess it’s already tomorrow, and sleep. Maybe I can knock it.”
We talked for a while, but I knew he was tired after being up all night worrying about me. I finally told him he needed to get some sleep and to stop worrying about me.
“Once you’re out of that house…and home with me, then I’ll stop worrying.”
“Where’s home?” I asked, curious as to where he wanted to live after he graduated.
    “With you…anywhere, with you.”
    “I love you. Goodnight.”

It was finally the last day of school before Thanksgiving break. I still hadn’t managed to get over that nasty bug, and I was getting irritated by it. I was constantly tired and run down, I had no appetite and I had lost quite a bit of weight from not only not eating much, but from throwing up what I did eat.
I was walking home from school when I noticed a strange car pull up alongside me.
“Hey beautiful, want a ride?” Tyler grinned.
    “ Tyler!”
He pulled over and got out and hugged me. “I’ve missed you.”
“How long are you home?” I asked, thrilled to see him.
“Until Sunday. I thought I’d give you a ride home and ask you over to dinner at my house tomorrow night.”
“Oh, that sounds so wonder…um, but what about Stephanie?”
“She’s fine with it. She’s spending the day with her family, and I’m spending the day with you…oh, and my family,” he grinned.
    “I’m not sure…”
“Kellan already said it was fine.”
    “You talked to him?”
“Yeah, a few times, actually.              He’s kind of worried about you.”
“I’m fine. Better, now that you’re home.”
“He said you’ve been sick and distant. What’s that all about?”
“Boy, you don’t mince words. I’m fine, really.”
    “You look…white as a ghost.”
“I just can’t seem to shake this flu bug.”
“Okay, I’ll take you home and pick you up at ten o’clock tomorrow morning, okay?”
I reached up and hugged him. “Sounds wonderful.”
Tyler was telling me all about school and how much fun he was having. I was happy for him and jealous all at the same time.
“So, I’ll see you in the morning. Are you sure you feel alright?” he asked, touching my cheek with the back of his hand. “You don’t seem to have a fever.”
“I’m fine…I’m just not getting over this…bug. I’m so tired all the time. I can’t eat, and when I do, I throw it up. I’m dizzy and my…” I stopped when I realized I was getting a bit too personal.
    “What?”
“Nothing,” I said, too embarrassed to say that my boobs were killing me. My cycle was all screwed up from stopping the birth control pills all at once, and that only added to my misery.
“How long have you been sick?”
“I don’t know. A month or two, or so…I’m not sure. It just won’t go away. I think a lot of it is stress…I miss him, so much.”
“I’m sorry. Well, I’ll see you at ten.”
“Okay. Thank you, Tyler. I’m so glad you’re home.”
“Yeah, I’m a pretty poor substitute for the big guy, but I’m better than nothing,” he grinned.
    I hugged him tight and
