Seth closed the distance between them and pulled her flush
against him to wrap her in his arms. “I actually think she was telling the
truth about that. He probably is still obsessed with you.”
She frowned at the mysterious grin on his face. “But you

“That he wasn’t stalking you.” He cupped her cheek. “But I
have no doubt he’s still obsessed with you. I would be too if I’d done
something so foolish as to let you get away.”
The look in his eyes took her breath away and she flashed
him a small smile just as he placed his lips against hers in a quick, gentle
kiss that made every cell in her body come alive.
When he lifted his head, that dark, intense look that she’d
come to recognize shadowed his golden gaze and her heart stuttered.
“Now that I know you’re safe and that we know who’s been
stalking you, we can finally settle this lingering issue between us.”
“Issue?”
“Of your punishment.”
She started to defend herself but snapped her mouth shut
when he shook his head. “I told you not to leave the house and yet you sneak
out when I’m in the shower—”
“I didn’t sneak out. Sneaking implies creeping and I walked out. Besides, I left a note.”
“And had your stalker been truly dangerous,” he continued as
if she hadn’t spoken, “you could have been seriously hurt, or worse.” He seized
her arm and walked her over to his car. “You’re reckless, Katherine, reckless
and impulsive and you deserve to be punished for disobeying me.”
She bit her tongue because she knew arguing with him was
futile. He would punish her regardless, but then she’d known that the moment
she’d left. A shudder raced through her. If she was honest with herself, she
could admit that she’d deliberately left her home, knowing that when he caught
up to her, he would have no choice but to punish her.
“I plan to spend the rest of the day punishing you, until
you know exactly who is in charge.”
She shivered at what she knew he had in store for her,
although she wouldn’t be her if she didn’t protest, if she didn’t at least put
