that was waved about high in the air, Tyler chuckled and hammed it up for the growing crowd. “Keep it up and you’ll be in trouble, Missy!”
Ava was sure she could hear the wicked snickers behind her and tried to bury her head against Tyler’s lower back. She couldn’t look at them. She didn’t need to see the judgment on their faces or the inevitable sea of camera phones snapping pictures of their immature outburst.
Ava jostled in his arms, but Tyler’s grip never wavered. Soon the giggles and commentary faded and Ava was dropped into the soft leather front seat before he placed a toe-curling kiss on her lips, leaving her breathless and horny.
By the time Ava stumbled through Tyler’s front door, she was absolutely buggered. After being up most of the night feeling overwhelmingly inspired while Tyler slept in her bed, then a huge breakfast, she knew she shouldn’t have followed it with a walk in the sunshine that had sapped her remaining energy. With a heavy sigh she flopped heavily onto the lounge, her arms and legs splayed every which way.
    “Comfy there?”
“Mmmm,” Ava barely managed to mumble, her heavy eyes already closed.
With a soft chuckle, Tyler slipped Ava’s shoes off and massaged the balls of her feet, earning him a deep moan. “Like that?”
    “Mmmm.”
As Ava’s eyes cracked open into narrow slits, she looked up into Tyler’s face, unable to hide her dreamy expression. Without a word, Tyler draped the throw rug from the back of the lounge over her body and kissed her forehead, so sweetly Ava would have sworn her ovaries combusted.
“I’m going to duck down to the gym for a bit. You stay here and get some rest. You’re going to need it!”
    “Mmm-kay.”
“Won’t be long, Short Stack.” With another prefect peck he was gone.
Ava knew she should get up. She wanted to. But her eyes just felt so damn heavy that she let them rest, even if it was just for a little while. Wriggling down further into the cushions, Ava closed her eyes and let sleep carry her away.

    Chapter 11

    Tyler

Sweating, smelling, and gasping for air, even then Tyler couldn’t wipe the ridiculously wide smirk from his face. He knew he looked like a fool. The reflection staring back at him as he pushed past the fifth kilometre on the treadmill wasn’t about to let him forget how stupid he looked. But he couldn’t care. The last twenty-four hours had been a whirlwind. One he wouldn’t trade for his life. None of the bullshit mattered anymore. Ava loved him. She’d said as much and anything that had come after that was hazy at best.
Shaking his head to try to dislodge the image of the woman who was most assuredly already zonked out on his couch from his brain, Tyler increased the incline and pace and pushed himself harder. After all, the sooner he hit the ten kilometre mark, the sooner he could get back upstairs.
With renewed enthusiasm and the best incentive he could imagine, Tyler ran until his legs felt like jelly beneath him. There was a reason he was a swimmer. Swimming was easy on your body. Well, maybe not easy, but easier than running endless miles. Swimming made you feel weightless and stretched all of your muscles out in one go. Running was painful. And exhausting. And hard work. And he hated it. Tyler knew it had to be done though, so he persisted. As soon as he’d completed the bare minimum, he sprung from the treadmill, suddenly filled with renewed energy, wiped down the machine, and almost skipped back upstairs.
Pushing open his door as quietly as he could, Tyler could hear Ava’s soft snores echoing across the room. Glancing down at her, she looked so precious and small that Tyler couldn’t contain the beaming smile that swallowed him. The pride inside almost burst forth and set the room on fire. Forcing himself to step away, he hurried down the hall and stepped into the shower. An icy cold shower was what he needed right now to get
