date.”
“With Megan?” Mom’s attitude shifts sweetly.
Happily I nod, “Yeah.”
“I like her,” she softly remarks. “A lot.”
“Kid, can you reschedule your date? I’ll make it up to you. I’ll—”
“No!” Mom shrieks without letting me agree or disagree. “Do you know how many times he’s had to cancel shit to be there for his sister? He’s not her father! You are!”
“Maxx—”
“No!”
“I’ll do it,” I volunteer on a sigh, not sure I can handle hearing this argument continue to run in circles.
Swiftly Mom starts, “Kid—”
“It’s cool. Instead of dinner out, I’ll just have her come over for a movie after Little Bit crashes or something.” Skeptical she gives me a look. “Swear we won’t do anything to wake her up.” When her face threatens to smile at my added comment I push until she does. “We’ll take the couch for a spin instead.”
“Dean Kellar!” She squeaks hitting me in the chest.
Dad clears his throat, “I’ll make it up to you Kid. Promise.”
I nod and mom sighs, “I’m gonna go pick up Little Bit.”
“Maxx—”
“Don’t talk to me.” She points at him. “Just...don’t.”
With her keys in her hand she storms out of the room, slamming the front door upon her exit.
Why is it when chicks get really angry they slam shit? Is that necessary?
“Fuck!” He yells running his hands down his lightly stubbled face.
“Can I say something?” the words cause him to nod at me leaning against the counter once more. “With all due respect Dad, I get why mom’s pissed.”
“So do I.”
“No.” I shake my head. “Why she’s really pissed.”
“What do you mean?”
“Dad, think about it. Mom’s sacrificed job opportunities for you. When you left to fight pro she stayed behind and raised me. After she had Faith she let you travel and gave up more chances to do what she loves to take care of both of us. You work ridiculous hours between the gym and the youth program. She’s always putting this family first and I think she needs you to do it for her. I kinda think she deserves that.”
Slowly he exhales, “You’re right....when the hell did you get that smart?”
“I like to think last summer,” the joke makes him chuckle.
“You’re not that smart.”
“Are you fucking kidding me? Between my aunts and uncles and you and Mom, I’m a fucking guru in the love department.”
“Sex and love are two different things Kid,” he clarifies. “And that girl you brought to introduce us to, is the kind who deserves to know that they are. You feel me?”
“Yeah.” I aimlessly nod. “Yeah I do.”
And that’s part of the problem. I haven’t done anything in the love department since I let her move away with my favorite teddy bear. I hope I don’t fuck this up like I know I’ve got a huge chance to.
Chapter 8
Dean
Thankfully, Megan was cool about babysitting with me for our date. I expected some resistance, but got just the opposite. Apparently she loves kids. Lucky me.
“No you have to wear the big hat Bubba,” Faith giggles placing the pink hat full of feathers on my head.
“I agree,” Megan laughs tossing her head back, her gorgeous hair dangling in a way that paints an erotic image in my head.
I’m so fucking horny everything this chick does could be an erotic image. This is the longest I’ve gone without busting a nut. Before you suggest masturbation, I prefer to keep that to a minimum. Most of the time pussy is at my fingertips, literally. This one chick shit has its drawbacks. Yeah, yeah, I know it’ll be fucking worth it.
“You do, do you?” My face turns to Megan. “You think this giant flamingo on my head looks good?”
“You look perfect.” She counters with a sweet look.
“No,” Faith speaks up clonking over to her dress up trunk in glass slippers Aunt Erin bought her. “Needs a scarf.”
“A purple one,” Megan adds.
“Why are you encouraging this fashion disaster?” Immediately Megan
