she eagerly accepted her newborn. The baby was warm and plump in
her arms. Fitting her embrace with such perfection, it brought
tears to her eyes. Light brown fuzz covered her tiny scalp. Her
nose was perfect and her little eyelashes framed her closed eyes so

    “ Oh my gosh. She’s so
beautiful,” Marley whispered.
    “ She’s so tiny,” Rick
whispered from where he stood beside Marley’s hospital bed. His
voice was full of awe and she didn’t need to look at his face to
know he was in a world of wonderment. The same world she’d slipped
into the moment she held her sweetheart.
    Just at that moment, the baby popped an
arm out of the blanket and yawned. Oh sweet heavens, her pink lips
were flawlessly formed into the shape of a cupid bow.
    “ Look at her clenched fist.
She’s already got spirit like her mamma,” Kacey said softly. Her
breath halted at the tenderness in his voice. She’d never heard
that tone before. It was amazing.
    Marley smiled at her two
men.
    “ And lively like her two
dads,” she complimented.
    Pride shone in their eyes as they gazed
lovingly at both her and the baby. At that moment, Marley knew that
although it had been rough breaking up with them all those years
ago, and even rougher being away from them for so long, the
distance had been necessary to make them grow and to become
confident in what they wanted in life. The separation had made them
strong because now they treasured every moment since being back
together.
    The men showed their thoughtfulness and
caring by taking turns in making her breakfast in bed during the
last couple of weeks before she’d given birth. They showed it in
the way they looked at Marley, their gazes filled with adoring
love. And there were so many other little things too. They put the
toilet seat down in the large three bedroom apartment bathroom
they’d moved into together a couple of months ago. The two men took
turns cleaning and dusting the place. They made the grocery list
and did the shopping and were her sounding board for the stories
she wanted to write.
    She loved them dearly. It was as if
they’d never been apart. It was as if time had just mended their
hearts and
