Finding Katherine (Katherine Series: Book One)
Chapter 1
Katherine Parker groaned as she tried to stuff her luggage into the
overhead compartment of the plane before taking an aisle seat next
to her best friend Jacqueline.
"God damn it, why do they make them things so
small?"
"Would you relax?" Jacqueline smirked at her
pulling her sunglasses to the top of her head, "You've been
stressed since check in."
Katherine sat back on the plane seat and
closed her eyes, she wasn't so sure that this vacation was such a
good idea. Two weeks of bliss in the Bahamas, what wasn't to love
right? But looking around at the happy couples on the plane only
reminded her of what she had lost.
"You're thinking about him again aren't
you?"
"Oh my god Jac, how do you do that?"
    Jacqueline smiled "It's a gift."
    Katherine smiled, playfully smacking her
friends arm in the armrest between them.
A voice suddenly echoed over the planes
intercom as the pilot spoke to the passengers for the first
time.
"Hello everybody and welcome to flight 314
from Boston, Massachusetts to the Bahamas. We would like to take
this opportunity to wish passengers a pleasant flight and invite
them to check out our refreshments available. There are several
happy honeymooners on board..."
    Katherine raised her eyebrows towards
Jacqueline with a look that said all that needed to be said.
The pilot went on "Mark and Tanya, Jen and
Chad, Latoya and Tyson, Matt and Christine, Todd and Barbara and
Steven and Kasey. I wish you all the happiness both on your
honeymoon and in your lives together. Love is the best thing in the
world ladies and gentlemen, if you are lucky enough to find it,
treasure it for all of eternity.”
Katherine scoffed to herself, was this guy
for real or had he drank a few too many beers before take-off? Love
was a sham and she promised herself that she would never let a man
get the better of her ever again. All these reminders of what had
happened back home, clarified in her mind that this trip was going
to be a disaster from the offset.
She looked over to Jacqueline who had buried
her head into a book and she then decided herself to get some
shuteye in order to make the nauseating sights of couples around
her making out, go away.
She drifted off into a light slumber but
thoughts still painfully stayed in her mind as she remembered the
time where her and Tony had first met. Sweet Tony, her soul mate.
At least she thought so until little more than a month ago.
Their eyes first met in the college cafeteria
all those years ago, his blonde jock like appearance was not one
that she usually found attractive but it was his kindness and
giving personality that eventually made her love him.
They got along wonderfully and worked well
together, they had the same ambitions in life and this was what
drew them to each other. One date turned into several more until
the first time that they made love entered Katherine's head.
It was extra special not just because it was
him; it was the first time that she had slept with anybody. It was
clumsy and not mind blowing like what you read about. It was loving
and that was what became normal for the two of them. Passion was
never really a big deal for the duo, Katherine did not even know
what passion really felt like because what the two of them had went
further than that or so she thought.
Their families were very close and after
several years together, Katherine and Tony transcended into the
next natural step of the relationship - engagement. She wasn't even
sure if he wanted to propose but he did and she gleefully accepted,
she thought they were happy together just the way they were.
So when she stumbled into their rented
apartment several weeks previously and caught him fucking Becky,
some hot bronzed beauty from the local tanning salon - her world
fell apart. When she first entered the home, she heard them
immediately, Becky was loud and Tony seemed to be loving it.
Like a deer looking into headlights,
Katherine stared through the door at them having sex on
