face. On her feet, Jodi
wrapped her arms around his shoulders and melted into him, her breasts snug
against his chest, her lips on his throat, their hips joined.
Mac lifted his face toward the ceiling and swallowed hard.
Her softness, scent and heat sent his pulse racing. Need tore through him,
indescribable in its intensity. He couldn’t touch her enough. His hands slid
down her back, over her ass, then went back up again to take the same journey.
They swayed to the music, not really dancing, but who the
fuck cared? Within Jodi’s embrace, Mac felt protected somehow. She suckled his
throat as though she’d never tasted anything better.
Shit, he was on fire, his senses sharper than they’d ever
been. He heard each breath she took. His body registered the damp heat of her
lips and tongue. He inhaled deeply, pulling in her sweet scent, drowning in her
musk.
“I want you,” he said, unable to help himself.
    Jodi stilled.
Aw shit. He’d pushed her too fast. Now he’d have to start
over and convince her he was a good guy, she could take a chance on him and—
“I want you too,” she whispered.
Mac froze, uncertain he’d heard her correctly. He eased back
and studied her face.
Jodi’s cheeks flushed with what might have been desire or
embarrassment. Mac wasn’t sure which.
Unable to stand the suspense, he asked, “What?”
She smiled softly. Wonder and yearning shimmered in her
eyes. “I want you so much.”
Before Mac could respond, Jodi sank to her knees, her hands
moving to the waistband of his jeans.

Chapter Five

It was like watching herself in a dream.
Hard lust was something Jodi engaged in during her
fantasies, never in real life. Doubt and longing had always dogged her days.
Not now. Another surge of tenderness hit, giving Jodi the
courage to follow her heart.
Mac wasn’t only the most physically beautiful man she’d ever
known, he was a genuinely good guy. Kind. Generous. As surprisingly lonely as
she’d been. She’d recognized his melancholy when he’d spoken of his family.
Parents and siblings who were nothing more than strangers, living so far away,
not staying in touch.
How could anyone do that to him? What in the hell was the
matter with them?
Overcome with emotion, she wrapped her arms around his
narrow hips and snuggled her face into his hard belly. It quivered with his
sharp intake of breath. His cock stiffened, pressing against her.
She nestled closer in return and inhaled deeply, loving how
he smelled. The fresh scent of fabric softener clung to his tee, mingling with
the cologne he always wore and his own unique fragrance. So male her skin
tingled.
“Jodi?” His voice rasped as though it was a struggle for him
to speak. “What are you doing?”
Prolonging the moment. Recording each sound and smell,
the hard contours of his body, the impressive thunder of his heart. These
minutes were such a miracle Jodi needed to store them deep inside to revisit in
the future when her time with him was over.
And it would be. Sleeping with Mac was light-years away from
getting a commitment from him or them becoming close friends. That should have
bothered the hell out of her.
Although caution and good sense edged close, Jodi pushed her
doubt away, unable to deny herself any longer. She was willing to face future
hurt for what little she could have now. Dumb, she knew, but she was helpless
against this.
“Enjoying you.” She finally answered him.
Soft laughter rumbled in Mac’s chest. “There’re all sorts of
goodies beneath my clothes. Give me a sec and you’ll see.” He tried to slip his
fingers past her shoulder to his fly.
Jodi eased his hand away. “I’ll do it.” She kissed his palm
then asked, “Should we worry about the windows and lights?” From a distance,
people outside could see in to the second-story windows. No way did she want
their passion to cause a car accident.
He swallowed loudly at her tonguing the pads of his fingers.
“We’re too far up for
