want to marry me even if I’m a
vampire?”
“Of course, my darling. I’ll love you to the
ends of the world and beyond no matter what your form.”
    “Then my answer is yes.”
      As
soon as I said the word, Donovan and Sebastian went into action. As he packed
his doctor’s bag, Sebastian assured us he had contacts at the local funeral
home who could provide us with a cremated body and that he would take care of
the rest of the paperwork declaring me dead. The problem would be in providing
me with a new identity in this age of electronics.
“Don’t worry about it. I have that covered,”
Donovan said as he kissed me once more. “Now go away, Sebastian.”
A moment later, the doctor walked out,
closing the door behind him. I struggled to watch Donovan as he stripped off
his clothes. Then he uncovered me and helped me out of my red dress. Once we
were both naked, he climbed into the king-size bed next to me.
He looked into my eyes, his blue eyes glowing
in the dim light. “I want you to remember that I love you. When you have to
make the choice, remember to follow your heart. Can you do that?”
    “Follow my heart,” I repeated.
“Now, spread your legs for me. I’m going to
make you feel good and then I’m going to have to hurt you, but it will all be
worth it.”
Feeling weak, I did as he asked, spreading my
legs. He helped me bend my right leg up so that it extended at a ninety-degree
angle from my body, allowing him to shift so that he lay between my legs. Then
he began to play, teasing my clit from its protective hood and then circling it
with a cool, damp fingertip before tracing his way down to slide first one and
then two fingers into my cunt. He spread his fingers and opened me wide as his
tongue lapped at my clit.
Even with my head pounding, I raced up the
mountain of erotic hunger. Just as I was about to fling myself into the
orgasmic abyss, I felt Donovan sucking on my left thigh and then a pair of
sharp, stabbing pinpricks. As the pain subsided, I became aware that Donovan
was sucking again. I could feel my blood leaving my body through my thigh, felt
myself getting weaker and weaker though I had no urge to fight him off, no
desire to save my own life. I looked down my body and watched as his fingers
continued to slide in and out of my cunt while he feasted on my upper thigh.
Laying my head back, I took one last deep
breath and released my hold on my mortality. In an instant, the pain in my head
was gone. I savored the feeling of relief as I remembered Donovan’s last words.
When I had to make a choice, I was to follow my heart.
Opening my eyes, I found I was no longer in
bed with Donovan. I was standing in what appeared to be some kind of tunnel
system. It reminded me of a clean version of the city sewers I’d seen in the
movies. I was in an area where three tunnels came together. The tunnels were
evenly spaced around the room and each appeared to be inviting me to enter. As
I turned a circle, I understood Donovan’s instructions. Each tunnel was
identical in shape, but different in their invitation. The first tunnel glowed
bright white and while I was tempted, I wanted to check out my other options
first. The second tunnel flicked with a red and gold light and I heard
screeches and screams. Listening for just a few seconds made me want to cry out
in pain.
Finally, I turned to the third tunnel. This
tunnel was dark, but I thought I heard Donovan’s voice, telling me to follow my
heart back to him. This tunnel pulled at my heart and I understood Donovan’s
instructions. Follow my heart. So, this was the choice I had to make. Heaven,
Hell, or Love. With a second look at each of my choices, I made my decision and
walked forward, following my heart back to Donovan and a never-ending life of
love in the dark.
