motion, as Jacob held onto my hips. Without warning, I felt a tug on my arm. My eyes flew open within seconds, and I intently eyed my assailant. With a change in breathing and the familiar flutter in my stomach, I became deeply lost in the depths of his captivating light grey eyes.
The short hypnotic trance ended when Jacob pushed Andriano on the shoulder, and Andriano punched Jacob in the face. Completely shocked by the ongoing uproar, I ran towards the bar and hopped over the counter. While behind the bar, the bartenders and I watched like spectators as Andriano flung Jacob across the room like he was a pesky fly. Locking his eyes with mine, Andriano walked towards the entrance to get behind the bar and pulled me by my hand.
“Wait. Where are you taking me?” I asked nervously.

Chapter Ten
Simone
A ndriano finally released my hand the moment we entered his office, and he slammed the door shut. I watched him closely—afraid of how my body would react to him. My skin still sizzled in the area where he had touched me. He leaned against the door and allowed his eyes to roam the rest of my body. He no longer wore the infuriated violent mask on his face that he exhibited a few moments ago. As he began walking, I took a step back…unsure of what his next move would be.
He stopped walking and looked at me suspiciously before saying, “Please don’t be afraid of me.”
“That is easy for you to say when you’re not the person who watched a man get beat to a pulp…not to mention that you dragged me in here. So please excuse me if I don’t want to take my chances with you,” I said angrily, as my voice rose to a higher pitch.
Running his hand down his face to ease the forming tension, Andriano began walking towards me again. I took a few steps back and released the breath that I was holding when I saw him take a seat in front of the desk. He leaned his elbows forward and rested them on each knee, as he clasped both hands together to rest his chin. He closed his eyes for a brief moment and then started staring at me again.
“I’m sorry that you had to see that. I can’t really explain what came over me, other than that I was trying to protect you,” he casually said with a nonchalant shrug.
“Protect me from who? That man works for you, and he is my friend. He probably defended me because you grabbed my arm like a rag doll. If anything, I needed protection against you,” I said heatedly, as I placed the palm of my hand to my chest. “You ruined my date with…” I began.
“A date? It’s over for him,” he said with hostility in his tone, as his hand clenched into a fist. His eyes seemed to go dark and cold within seconds. His facial expression was hard and unreadable.
“Yes, a date,” I said, putting distinct emphasis on each word. “It is none of your business who I decide to date. You leave Jacob out of this. It’s bad enough that you assaulted him for no reason,” I shouted. He was so infuriating, and it was bothersome that I was behaving totally out of character. “You better leave him alone,” I warned.
“Or else what?” he asked, as he stood and towered over my shivering frame. “You’re my fucking business. Remember that shit before you think about dating,” he shouted, as he tossed the chair that he was sitting on across the room with ease. Pointing a long finger at me, he said, “Simone, I…I really don’t want to fight with you. I just got back, and all I want is…”
“I’m not your fucking property. You don’t own me. We fucked, and that’s it,” I said. Then I halted my words, as a realization dawned on me. “Oh, I get it, now. I see what this is all about. You think that—because I gave my virginity up to you, picked up your phone calls, and responded to your text messages—that you have some entitlement,” I said, as I stood my ground. He ignored my statement and walked past me and sat behind his desk.
“You want my pussy, right?” I said mockingly, as I
