May ask your whereabouts this last hour?”
The constable was polite and professional.
“Certainly, Officer, we’ve been in the club.”
“Is there anyone who can corroborate that?”
“The club was crowded tonight, and I am sure many people saw us.”
Eric saw that Gordon was getting impatient.
“It was them, I know it was!” he shouted.
“Now, sir, please allow me to proceed with my enquiries. May I see your hands?” he asked, looking at Ruari and Alexander.
“Certainly,” Alexander replied and he and his brother held out unmarked hands for the constable to see.
“Thank you, sirs. That will be all, it is plain you haven’t been in a fight!”
Eric hid his jubilation. The plan was working.
“You had better come with me to the police station and we can take your statements there.”
“I have a broken arm and I want medical attention now!”
“Very well, come along now and we will see to it.”
“We have CCTV,” Prometheus said with a pained expression on his face, making Eric smile again. “But one of our cameras is out of action. A couple of weeks ago someone spray-painted it before they attacked this lady here. We haven’t had it fixed yet. We will of course supply you with what footage we do have.”
Fiona had gone inside. Eric had seen her looking at holes in her skirt. She came back out and asked, “What was in that bottle you tried to throw at me? It burned holes in my skirt.”
“A pity I missed you, bitch. Your new boyfriends would not have wanted you with your face as ugly and scarred as your arms.”
There was little paint left on the side of the car where she’d been standing.
“Acid,” said the policeman and spoke into his radio summoning a forensic team.
“Best get that skirt off and give it to me. It’s evidence and not safe to wear now.”
Eric fetched a blanket as he saw her hands shaking, as she handed it to the policeman.
Master Alexander took her in his arms and held her close.
    “You’re safe now,” he said.

Chapter Sixteen

The next day, most of those who took part in Gordon’s downfall met in Prometheus in Chains. Only Torquil and his friends were absent. Master Eric arrived last, bringing Emma with him. She went over to Fiona, who was chatting to Jane, Alexander, and Ruari, and hugged her.
“I am glad it all turned out well, Fiona,” she said. They stood and chatted for a while.
“You all met Jack, briefly, last night,” Eric said by way of introduction.
“Oh, Jack and I are old comrades-in-arms. We fought in the Falklands war together. How are you, Jack?”
    “Keeping well. And you?”
“I’m fine. When do you retire from Special Branch? Can I persuade you to join the club?”
“Well, my twenty-five years are up very shortly. I’ll give it some thought. I’ve no idea yet what I’m going to do.”
Eric noticed that Jack didn’t call Prometheus by name. He knew that Jack was acquainted with Prometheus but he didn’t know they’d fought together. He knew that Angus had known Prometheus before the club and so was privy to his history. This was a mystery, and Eric loved mysteries.
“Luncheon is served.” The voice of the club’s Catering Manager cut across all conversations.
It had been decided to hold the meeting over lunch in the club dining room, where a three-course meal had been prepared by the kitchen staff. Usually they were only required to produce finger food as so many Doms enjoyed hand-feeding their subs, and only on special occasions was there a formal dinner. Because of that, they had worked really hard to produce a special meal.
Over the first course of British asparagus wrapped in Serrano ham and served with mayonnaise, the conversation flowed.
“Well, Jack, what is the latest on the Gordon and Jackson situation?” Prometheus asked.
With every eye upon him, Jack replied, “A search of their hotel room turned up a hoody and a Maggie Thatcher mask like the ones on the CCTV, and then Jackson confessed. Well, he
