went on talking about
her teachers and what not. I couldn’t believe what he had done. He
didn’t want to spend any alone time with me anymore, so if that was
the way he wanted it, so be it.
I was babbling mindlessly without even
noticing when Sophie came in the room. Their room was smaller. They
had less space but the same things. “Hey, I just got my dress. It’s
awesome!” Sophie was holding a box that she laid on a bed and she
opened carefully, to show us. Yeah, her dress was pretty. Then,
Mereily went to her armoire and took hers out to show it off too.
Sophie’s was a creamy color, long and it shined in the light.
“What do you think?” Mereily’s dress was long
too. But hers’ was violet and it would look good on her because of
her skin color and her bright eyes.
“It’s beautiful. Both are.” I didn’t want to
make either feel bad.
“Where’s your dress?” Sophie asked me looking
at the dress I was wearing. Thinking about it, I realized how
different mine looked from their’s and wondered why that was.
“Oh. In my room, you guys want to come with
me, and get ready in my room?” They smiled and said yes. We walked
down the hall, where we heard music blearing from a room, and
turned to my own little narrow hall where my room was the only one
there. I opened the door and let them In first.
“Oh my god, it’s huge!” Mereily looked around
like she was entering into her first apartment, Sophie wide eyes,
walked and stood in the middle looking around like a little girl
would, which she kind of was.
“Huge. Is an understatement,” Sophie told
her.
“I’ll trade you any day.” I said low enough
for them not to hear. “The bathroom is this way.” I got their
attention and they followed. They went into the restroom. “I forgot
my dress.” I said remembering how I had left it by the bed, I heard
them awing and while I had gone back into the room to get the dress
when I saw Robert coming out of his bathroom. I grabbed my box and
ignored him.
“Getting ready?” He asked as I was walking
towards the bathroom.
I turned back around and stared at him for a
second. He was already wearing his tuxedo, he looked even better, I
felt like melting. But I snapped out of it before I did something I
would regret. He was just so damn gorgeous that it was hard to look
at him in the eyes. But I did.
“Yeah, with some friends so we don’t have to
be alone, you know.” I said as I was leaving him then I stopped.
“Oh. By the way the school is not locked, just so you know next
time you want to give a tour you don’t disappoint them.” And I
joined the girls in the closet, where I found them snooping around
looking through my clothes. “Here’s my dress.” I took it out and
hanged it.
“It’s amazing, Mia that’s like the kind of
dress only royalty wear.”
“What? You mean, not everybody wears dresses
like that?” I was shocked to hear this. I had thought everybody
wore basically whatever dress, but I thought wrong.
“No way, only royalty, like Gene and her
cousins and others.” Sophie said unhappy.
“What do you mean by royalty?” I didn’t know
what they were talking about, but I had an idea at the mention of
Genevieve‘s name.
“Only if you are related to the King and
Queen or the Lords,” Sophie continued.
“That’s real Bull.” Mereily’s tone was of
disappointment.
“What is?” I asked her, hoping she wasn’t
upset with me.
“Robert is my second cousin, and I am not
royalty.” My jaw dropped opened and I looked at her, really looked.
And couldn’t believe that Robert was her cousin, he was nothing
like her.
“Well, I’m definitely not related to any of
them. So why did they give me that dress?”
“Maybe you are, you just haven’t got the
chance to meet anyone yet.” Mereily said she wasn’t mad anymore
just slightly upset.
“Mereily, I’m sorry. I won’t
wear it if it’ll make you feel better. I don’t want to be part of
no royalty, it’s all
