does matter – it matters a lot because you love him.
A few days earlier Grace had sighed, shaken her head then handed her a copy of one of the more gossipy papers and there had been a photo of Matthew in it at some event or other.  A photo of Ma tthew with a brunette at his side – he had his arm around her and they were both smiling happily at each other.  What was going on – did this mean it was the end for them ?  W as what he’d done to her in his office a parting flourish – something for her to remember him by - an act he’d wanted imprinted o n her memory forever?
Gina had never felt more unhappy.  It hurt that Matthew could do those things to her in that way – it had been so fierce it had been almost like a punishment and not at all like an act of love.
You’re forgetting what he once told you – he doesn’t do lovemaking – he does sex and he likes it rough – he likes to control and dominate .
And now this – t his brunette – just who was she - a nd was he ever coming back?  He’d said he would that night on the front steps and he’d said they’d meet again when he did .   So she’d just have to trust that he’d meant it - after all she’d never known Matthew to lie.
Exactly two weeks and two days after the incident in his office he rang her.  Her heart thudded and the butterflies were back – a teenage girl couldn’t have been happier.
“I’ll s end Conrad for you about ten thirty tomorrow morning,” he told her softly .   “ I’ve missed you,” he admitted.  “So please come I think we have things to talk about, don’t you?”
Yes she did and her heart raced with joy – but then she reminded herself that he was always like this but when it got right down to it they never did any talking .  Whenever they got together it was only ever about the sex.
“ There’s no need to worry Grace or your dad about baby sitting – you can bring James with you,” he surprised her.
What was this – one minute he was dominating her – doing the most inappropriate things to her on her parent’s doorstep and in his office promising to do nothing more than fill her world with pain .  T he n in the next he was talking about doing the baby thing again?
“Are you sure – they really don’t mind looking after him,” she reassured wondering what she’d do with James while she was with him.
“I want you to stay the night,” he told her firmly.  “I have plans for you,” he added the mood y tone in his voice back .  “ Please don’t argue with me over this, Gina.  I want you here - I want to show you my new place and I’ll cook for us as well.”
More raised eyebrows.  “First I discover that you have a flair for dealing with infants and now you cook as well,” she replied sarcastically.  “So where is your new place?”
“Not that far, just a little way out of the city - Virginia Water – in Surrey .”
Conrad arrived exactly on time and helped Gina put all the baby paraphernalia in the limo.  A baby seat had already been fitted to one of the back seat s and once James was strapped in they were off.
“About thirty miles,” Conrad told her.  “So with traffic on our side we should be there within the hour, Miss.”
Gina settled back and played with James until after about ten minutes he fell asleep.  She had a lot to think about.  She wanted to see Matthew – no – she needed to see Matthew.  Whatever happened between them she couldn’t rid herself of the hunger – the need to have him take her the way he did.  But what about James , she thought looking at her son.  He’s Matthew’s son too – so are you going to pluck up the courage and tell him?
The truth was Gina just didn’t know what to do.  She watched the city streets pass by in a dream until she looked up and they were in the rich leafiness of Surrey but still no decision .  Matthew could offer their son a lot – everything in fact - give him the sort of future
