Conquest of the Alpha
was what happened next that made her almost jump out of her skin. It appeared that she was watching this from above, as if she was an innocent bystander witnessing something for the first time.
Her hands still had the look of the wolf, but her face was ashen white, with very distinctive canine teeth protruding from her mouth. Her eyes were glowing red, and she watched as she herself picked up Chance and bit into his neck. The way that this thing that she had become ripped into him was unnatural, and after dropping his body onto the ground, she looked up and saw a figure of a man standing on top of the hill looking down.
“AHHHHHHHHHH.” She didn’t even know that she was screaming, or that Calley and Tanner were shaking her and trying to bring her around. Nothing seemed to work, and her screams of agony were not only echoing inside the house, but outside of it as well.
“I want you to keep her steady, because whatever she is seeing is causing her to lose her damn mind. I have something that might bring her around, but I am afraid that she’s going to have to deal with the demon that she has just seen for herself. Whatever it was, I can tell you that her mind couldn’t deal with it.” She ran to her cupboards, coming back with a small branch with a purple leaf on the top of it. Running it back and forth underneath Julia’s nose, she suddenly stopped screaming altogether and looked down at her hands.
“That couldn’t have been me, and what I saw is something that is grotesque. It was something that was born from death itself, something that was twisted and maniacal in ways that I could only imagine. I was unleashed on Chance and he didn’t know what hit him. It happened so fast, but I did see that there was somebody else there. I couldn’t get a clear view of whoever it was, but I felt this very strange compelling urge to follow his every command.” Julia had now seen what it was that she had become, and it made her begin to realize that it wasn’t really her that was doing all of these bad things.
Tanner heard the words coming out of her mouth, and he knew of only one person that could possibly have that kind of effect on a human being. It couldn’t be possible, because they had destroyed the last one not more than 10 years ago. There had never been any sightings of another one, but if what he was hearing was true, it had to be none other than Lucas. If he had survived the fire, there was no telling what kind of revenge he would want to unleash on the clans. He began to pace back and forth, stroking his chin and looking out into space at nothing at all.
Julia saw his reaction to what she said, and had the instinct to know that Tanner was now hiding something. All this was going on under the watchful eye of Calley, who didn’t want to interfere, but was certainly curious about what was going on.
“I have to inform the others, because if this is true, it is going to change everything. I am still not sure how he did this, only that I now have a better idea of what you are, Julia.”
Calley wasn’t about to take this lying down, and decided to stand up and ask what they were talking about “I have been more than patient, but if you’re not going to tell me what’s going on, I would like you to leave and never come back. I don’t think that’s too much to ask, and I would very much appreciate some straight answers or there’s the door.”
“I told you that that there were things about me that you wouldn’t understand, but I have to tell you that I am a werewolf.”
Calley stared at him for a minute, and then began laughing so hard that her sides began to hurt. “I should have realized that you would treat this as a joke, and if you’re not going to take this serious, I really don’t have anything else to talk to you about.” She didn’t expect the truth, but she didn’t expect him to weave a tale of supernatural wonder either. For him to even consider that she would believe such a thing,
