fight. His reaction was the same as Aleron’s had been.
“Cool it,” Aleron said. “She and I have argued it out. If the leaders say she can help, we can’t stop her. Too many lives might be saved with her assistance.”
“I still don’t like the idea,” Raoul said.
“Get used to it. I’ve given it some thought and I’m sure Mitch and the other leaders will agree with her. She can be a valuable asset, especially in her small cat. I’ll call Mitch and tell him we need a meeting with him and the other leaders.” Aleron put in the call, and Mitch answered.
“You want a meeting, but you can’t tell me why?” Mitch asked.
“We’re coming to the ranch house and need to meet in the conference room downstairs.” He glanced at Jewel. “We’re bringing Jewel to visit with the other ladies. We can’t leave her alone.”
“I’ll let the others know. See you.” Mitch rang off.
“Let’s go,” Aleron said. “He’s contacting the others.” Aleron locked up, and the three of them got into the truck. Raoul drove, and Jewel sat in the center. Her sweet scent tantalized Aleron. If it was a normal day, he’d have kept her in bed for much longer. One time didn’t start to appease his hunger.
Raoul glanced across at Aleron over Jewel’s head. Aleron read the question in his eyes. He smiled and nodded. Raoul would want to entice Jewel into his bed now. Aleron didn’t have any idea how Jewel would react. Tonight he’d encourage Raoul to be patient a little longer. But he knew how he’d feel if Raoul had already loved her and he hadn’t.

Chapter Six

Sara greeted them at the ranch house. “Everyone is already downstairs in the meeting room. They were all here when you called. Jewel, you can join us in the study.”
Aleron put his arm around her shoulders. “No. I said that to Mitch to throw anyone off if they were listening to our phone conversations. We don’t know what abilities they might have to intercept our calls. I wasn’t going to take any chances. I’m probably just being paranoid.” He grinned at Sara. “She’s coming to the meeting with us.”
“Sure. All right. We’ll see you later, Jewel.” Sara headed back toward the study.
As they walked to the elevator, Aleron felt Jewel shiver. “Are you all right?” They stepped into the empty platform and pushed the button for down.
“I’m nervous about telling them.” She licked her lips. Aleron had to fight the urge to kiss her. Now wasn’t the time. Instead he hugged her to him. “Raoul and I will be there. Nothing will happen to you.”
“I know.” She smiled at both of them and reached out to take Raoul’s hand.
Aleron let go of her, and she stepped into Raoul’s arms. Maybe she was ready to accept both of them.

All eyes turned to Jewel and the two men on either side of her when they entered the conference room. Jewel glanced from face to face. Elle, Cad, Garth, Lann, Mitch, and Daren, plus a number of warriors from all three tribes had gathered in the room.
“I hope you don’t mind that I included some more of our men. When I talked to Elle she said this would be an important meeting. If you’d rather they leave, I can send them upstairs. I see you’ve brought Jewel with you.”
“Yes. What I said on the phone was a cover to protect her,” Aleron explained. “Jewel, what do you think about the others?”
She looked around the room at the many warriors waiting to hear her secret. It was overwhelming. “Can we add one more? I’d like my father to be present.”
“Sure,” Daren said. “I’ll call him.” Daren stepped to the side of the room to make the call.
Mitch took her hand. “You seem tense. Would you like a cup of coffee? Remember we’re all family here in this room.”
“I know. Thank you, the coffee sounds good.”
“Your dad will be here in a few minutes,” Daren said. “I’m going to eat one of Tessa’s wonderful chocolate-chip cookies and have another cup of
