the bathroom to clean it out.
Jack was sleeping when I returned to the living room. I placed the bucket beside him and then went in the kitchen to make him a pot of strong tea.
Meantime, I was bewildered by my high tolerance to the alcohol. I should have been in the same situation as Jack. Was this another sign? Another symptom I was changing? Was I becoming a vampire? The thought gave me chills.
It was one thing to like vampires; okay, be obsessed with them, but another to become one. The thought of drinking blood nauseated me.
The kettle whistling broke my musing. I turned off the burner and let the tea steep. I glanced at the clock on the wall. I had about fifteen minutes to clean myself up before Aiden arrived.
Gathering my clothes, I headed for the bathroom to shower and change.

Aiden kissed me as he walked through the door. As he closed it, he assessed me and said, "You look great for someone who burned through a bottle of Scotch last night."
"I guess I just have a high tolerance to alcohol." I excused.
Jack's moan drew Aiden's attention to him. He had now moved to the sofa where I covered him with a blanket. The bucket sat beside him but he seemed to have stopped retching. Aiden smiled down at him.
"Hey, man, how are you feeling?"
         "Like death."
Aiden softly chortled. "You planning to crash out here all day?"
"Until I can stand on my own."
         "Have you tried?"
         "No."
Aiden beckoned his hand, "Come on."
         "What?"
"You're going to stand up and walk to the kitchen to have a cup of tea and something to eat and then I'm going to drive you home."
Jack groaned as Aiden took his arm and helped him sit up and then stand. Slowly and carefully they walked to the adjoining kitchen and Aiden propped him up against the counter. He poured Jack a cup of tea and handed it to him. Jack's hands slightly trembled as he cupped the mug.
"I usually put cream and sugar in my tea."
"Well, you're going to take it black today. Don't want to dilute its strength. Now, drink up."
Jack carefully sipped the hot beverage as he leaned the weight of his body against the counter.
"You know, all of it was worth it to celebrate Donnie's memory."
Aiden patted his shoulder. "I know."
"Any word about Weston?" I asked.
"Nothing. No one at the club is talking."
Neither did I think they would. As I listened to Jack sobbing and the helplessness on Aiden's face, I knew what had to be done.

CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

We had a memorial service for Donnie but not having his body to bury only deepened the grief. And anger. An anger that went deep to the point of obsession. I didn't have the ability to fight Weston but I knew someone who did.
Draco slipped into the seat across from me at the table in the vampire club. "I understand you're looking for me?"
"I need you to find Weston and bring him to justice."
          "By justice, you mean,"
"Kill him." I snarled with venom.
A sly smile touched his lips. "You're becoming more like us every day."
"Look, I don't like what you did to me. In fact, I hate it. I'm beginning to loathe vampires. But I want Weston dead. I want him to pay for what he did to my friend. And I want you to make it the most excruciating death you can inflict."
I wanted to smack the grin off of his face. "I also want you to find Donnie's body so that we can give him a proper burial."
"I have been looking for your friend. And, Weston hasn't been around lately."
         I glowered at him.
"I'm not lying." He assured. "When I find him, he will be brought to justice. But it's best left up to his kind to exact vengeance. Your boyfriend and his little friends won't be able to handle him even if they were able to
