forcing her to turn around so she was on her hands and knees.
“Perfect,” he said as he patted her ass. “Grab the headboard, Sara. I think
this is going to be rough.”
    Rough? “But
I thought it—” He thrust into her so hard she nearly fell face first into the
pillows. Clasping the wooden headboard with both hands, she arched her back and
focused on the feel of him so hard inside her. “Jared?”
“I’m sorry, baby. I’ll make it up to you
later, but watching you touch yourself was just fucking unbelievable. I need to
do this, okay?”
“Okay,” she replied, realizing she’d made
him lose control.
She was grinning by the time her second
orgasm hit, so close after the first one it brought aftershocks that lasted a
good minute. Her body was still jerking when Jared let out a roar and dug his
fingers into her soft hips. It hurt and yet she knew he wasn’t aware of what he
was doing. When he leaned down, his body covering hers, and bit the spot where
her shoulder met her neck, she gasped in shock, but he was already coming.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled minutes later,
dropping a soft kiss on the bruise now decorating her pale skin. “I don’t know
what came over me.”
Sara assured him it was fine, that he’d
just lost control. Secretly though, she loved it. He’d marked her, and it might
not have been very feminist of her, but she relished the hickey for what it
was.
Lust. Love. And everything in between.

Chapter Five

Sara had decided to up her new walking
regime. The more she thought about what her mother had said, the more she
realized she was right. She’d let herself go over the past year. A bit of
comfort-eating here and there, together with the sheer unwillingness to cook
for only herself. After all, what was the point? It’d been so much easier
buying pre-packaged food and eating it in front of the TV.
Now it was a pleasure to feed Jared though.
She grinned as she watched him get seconds from the homemade lasagna she’d
cooked earlier. He burned so many calories every day, he seemed perpetually
hungry. She wished she was the same, but she still had no idea why he loved
hiking so much. Even with her iPod blaring in her ears, she struggled every
morning to get out of the house and start walking. It was just so damn…boring.
Sure, she was outside and there was nature
everywhere. Singing birds. Falling leaves. Glistening rocks. Whoopi doo! She rolled her eyes at her own thoughts. She sounded like a bad infomercial.
She’d been valiantly trying to walk at
least a mile a day. It didn’t compare to what Jared did, but it was better than
nothing. She just ached everywhere now, and oh my God, she was getting really
tired of the constant pain.
Every time she moved, even if it was just
to sit down at her desk, her muscles twinged. Between her stumbling hikes and
Jared’s lovemaking, her body was starting to make her feel as if she was far
older than her thirty-six years.
Mind you, she secretly loved how he still
acted as if they were rabbits, cornering her in every room of the house
whenever he felt like it…and he felt like it very often. Smiling at the thought,
she pushed her chair back and stood up, gathering the dirty dishes before
putting them in the dishwasher.
“Let me.” Jared pushed her to the side and
pointed to the door. “Why don’t you go relax? You look tired.”
She left the room, frowning as his words
echoed inside her mind. She looked that bad? Damn it! Can’t I get a
break here? Plopping down on the sofa, she grabbed the remote and turned
the TV on. She began flicking through channels, too wired to find anything that
suited her.
She only realized she was tapping her knee
with her fingers when Jared sat down beside her and stilled her hand. “You’re
jittery tonight. Something wrong at work?”
She sighed. “No, just…stress, I guess.”
“Want me to give you a massage?”
She looked up at him. “Would you? Really?”
Mike had hated giving her massages,
