promised him. Iâm going to have to explain to Craig that it was prearranged.â
âYeah, it was prearranged before you met him. If he likes you as much as it sounds, Iâm telling you now, Venice, heâs not going for it. That man ainât about to let you go up there to your ex. You know once you and Jarvis get together, youâre going to end up giving him some. Where does that leave Craig? You better call him and let him know you canât come.â
âIâm not going to cancel. A matter of fact, Iâm so horny, I canât wait to go.â
âSee, youâre playing games already. If you want this guy, you better not go up there messing around with Jarvis, cause you know heâs crazy when it comes to you.â
âI just donât know what Iâm going to do. I miss Jarvis. Lord! That man knows how to make me scream!â
âAll right, donât say I didnât try to warn you. Have you told Craig the whole story on you and Jarvis?â
âNo, but I did tell him that I have strong feelings for Jarvis for reasons I didnât want to get into right away. He suggested we might need to cool it. I just think that if I tell him, he may not want to be with me.â
âSo what if he finds out before you tell him? Heâll really be pissed at you. Iâm a man. I know. We donât like surprises.â
âI asked Galen, Sidney, and Chanelle not to mention anything to Craig about the situation.â
âOkay. Well, I know itâs late and you have class tomorrow. Iâll talk to you later. Keep your head in the books and Bryan said donât forget our tickets and hotel reservations.â
âOkay, goodnight! And Josh, thanks again. Love ya!â
âLove you too, girl. Goodnight.â
They hung up the phone and Venice was asleep within minutes.
Â
Venice woke up hoping that she didnât ruin her chances of making a decent grade on her literature exam by staying out late drinking the night before. She was still tingling from the affects of being with Craig. She was also preoccupied with the conversation sheâd had with Joshua. She hurriedly showered and dressed to make her way to class. Monique was still cuddled up with her teddy bears, snoring like you wouldnât believe. As Venice entered the classroom, she could see some of her classmates still going over their notes. She realized that she wasnât the only one who needed a little more time to study. Anyway, she said a small prayer while the professor passed out the test and instructed them to begin. As Venice went over the questions, she found the answers coming to her easily. Then she remembered how Craig had quizzed her the night before. It seemed that everything sheâd studied was definitely on the exam. Venice breathed a sigh of relief as she finished the exam and turned it in to the professor.
âThank you, Miss Taylor. Iâll see you in class on Monday and have a nice weekend.â
âYou too, professor.â
When Venice got outside, she felt good about her performance and decided to share her joy with Monique. When she returned to the room, Monique was finally dragging herself out of bed.
âAre you just getting in from last night?â
âNo, girl. When I got in last night, you were knocked out. I had my Lit exam this morning. Remember? You couldnât hear me getting ready for class for all that snoring you were doing.â
Monique couldnât help but laugh. âIâm sorry, roomie. I mustâve been dog-tired. So⦠What did you and Mr. Bennett get into last night for you to get back so late?â
âYou sure are nosy! But, if you must know, he cooked dinner for me and helped me study for my exam.â
She laughed. âIs that all? You mean to tell me he showed up unannounced from out of town and it wasnât a booty call?â
âI know it may be hard for you to believe it, Monique, but not
