came a second. Wade finally called to say, “Thomas is holed up at the branch office. Tonight would be a good time to corner him.”
She accepted his offer to clear things with branch office security, if for no other reason than curiosity to see Thomas in that setting. She held out no real hope she’d learn anything useful.
She put that aside to focus. Difficult, since she was working with Ben after spying on him last night. His department was hosting a group exhibitionism event for the Three Sisters Ball VIPs. The Palace’s art-deco penthouse suite was packed with multiple clients and at least eight exhibition team performers. There were so many people on this set, she had no idea how he and his team could do this all the time without nerves eating them alive. Before they started, he’d told her the key was to concentrate on her assigned client, nothing more.
Ben was certainly calm enough. Very at home as he wandered from group to group. He wore a brown shirt and slacks that made him look extra blond and extra tan. And Amanda wasn’t sure what she’d done to land so firmly on Kara’s good side, but tonight’s gauzy cream-colored, layered Victorian-lace dress and blood red, ankle-wrap pumps rivaled her throne room costumes for splendor.
The clients were all over the place in style: some in jeans, some in black tie. Sitting next to Amanda at a table, the client she had been assigned, Mary Beth, wore a black baby-doll dress that would make her job very easy once Ben gave the signal.
Until then, she listened to Mary Beth’s nervous chatter. She worked at one of several military contractors in the area. Brilliant, and cute in a geeky sort of way. She babbled on and on about factual errors in movies featuring space flight, wishing Ben would lend his client some of his calm. If the poor girl was already this nervous, Amanda couldn’t imagine what would happen when she realized what Ben had planned for her tonight.
It would be fun. Amanda would enjoy it, but they might have difficulties if Mary Beth couldn’t relax. Moving slowly probably wouldn’t be effective with this one; they’d get too friendly, then backslide when it came to the sex. Better they charge ahead before Mary Beth got comfy.
Amanda made a point of seeking out Ben with her eyes. He stood with another group, not talking much. His eyes were on Mary Beth, and when Amanda checked to see if the client had noticed, she saw that not only did the girl notice, but the babbling rate increased.
Amanda nearly laughed out loud. She’d babble too if Ben Oliver looked at her that way. He was ridiculously hot with the muscles and the intense blue eyes broadcasting sinful intent. And given what she’d seen last night on the outdoor set, she knew the man could deliver.
Before Ben looked away again, he gave Amanda the signal with a pointed sweep of his eyes to the table linen and back up again.
Amanda moved her chair closer to Mary Beth, murmuring apologetically as if she couldn’t hear very well over the din. The babbling picked up pace again. Endearing, really. So uptight.
Crossing one leg over the other, Amanda leaned closer. The core principle of this fantasy was being naughty in public and mostly escaping detection. Under cover of the table linen, she placed a gentle hand on the girl’s knee. She had no trouble keeping her expression bland as cream, even when the pitch of Mary Beth’s chatter rose and she wondered if she could make the girl babble an actual tune by moving her hand up and down her leg.
Careful to keep her shoulders still so her movement would escape detection, she slid her hand back, slowly, feeling her way up a soft, smooth thigh. She knew their client had been given a Brazilian wax in the spa on her first day here. A bare, oiled pussy awaited her attentions. Her own began to warm at the thought. She had to keep that in check tonight. This fantasy was all about the client. Amanda wouldn’t be included in the main event.
