I was dying to see the fire in his eyes but it looked like that was not going to happen. He was completely ignoring me and I was hoping that it was not because he was feeling guilty about what had happened yesterday. I desperately needed to let him know that I wanted to be with him, but it looked like he was already over me. There was no way that I was going to let that happen.

“You may all go back to your work stations now,” he said, calling the meeting to an end.

“Could I please have a moment with you?” I said as we started getting up.

“Not now, Sarah, not if it is not related to work. I have a lot of work to do and so do you,” he dismissed me without even bothering to look at me, how hurtful.

    “But-“

“Get out of my office,” he barked, to everyone’s surprise and we all scooted out of his office.

“What is going on, Sarah?” Lena asked. “I have never seen Erik acting like that.”

“I was hoping that you could tell me.”

“Come on, Sarah, I'm no fool. I noticed that you blush whenever you look at him, and he avoided eye contact with you. I helped you get the interview and so maybe you could tell me exactly what is going on between you two,” she said, following me into my office and closing the door behind her.

There was no way that I could share Erik's story with anyone. Not the one that he was a tiger shape shifter.

“I think I'm in love, Lena. I'm in love with Erik,” I breathed softly.

“Come on, girlfriend, all the women in the city are in love with him, get real,” Lena smirked, sitting on one of the seats infront of my desk.

“No, with me it is different, we connected over the weekend and he just completely swept me off my feet,” I looked at my new friend and probably confidant, since we were the only women on the floor.

“What, you mean to say that you spent the whole weekend with Erik?” her eyes widened with curiosity. “How was it?”

“I can't give you those sort of details, but yes, he is the best lover that anyone can get, and I have a gut feeling that we are meant to be together.”

“I am so jealous, I have been here a year and he has never made a move on me, and for you he does it the first time that he sees you,” Lena joked.

    “I'm serious, Lena.”

“You have one hell of a problem, girlfriend,” she said, getting up and making her way out of my office.

Erik had stayed holed up in his house since Sarah had left. He was afraid to even read the papers or watch the television since he was afraid of what he would read or hear. He really did not know what to do. The way that she had taken off in the woods was clear evidence that she wanted nothing to do with him.

He stared down into his cold mug of coffee, hoping that it would give him the answer to the questions that were burning in his mind. The doorbell suddenly rang, making him jump up in surprise as he looked at the wall clock. For heaven’s sake, it was five in the morning, and who could it be at this hour? He walked over to the door and opened it. Both shock and surprise greeted him when he saw Sarah standing there, a little wet.

“I'm sorry I look like this, your sprinklers went on and soaked me,” she said standing there and her night gown clinging to her body.

Erik stood there staring at her dumbfounded and at a loss of words.

“Well, aren't you going to invite me in?” she asked.

“I'm sorry, please come on in and make yourself comfortable,” he said.

He was still wondering what she was doing at his place as he watched her going into the kitchen to pour herself a mug of coffee from the coffee pot.

“What are you doing here, Sarah?” he asked, standing in the doorway of the kitchen.

“You have been avoiding me at the office for the past two days, and I don’t like that. I have very many questions that need to be answered, Erik,” she said, sitting
