keep them off the ground for the rest of her life.”
“That’s the
spirit. Now, what is it that you need me to do with these?”
“I want
everything you can find about her. Who she dated, what she owns, her family,
friends even what size bra she wears…although I already figured that one out
myself.”
Simon
chuckled. “I am sure you did.”
“I’d
appreciate you dealing with this personally. I don’t want stories making the rounds.”
“Of course.
I’ll get right on it.”
Tiaan settled
back in his chair and buzzed his PA to set up a meeting with his project team.
He warmed when his phone rang and Allison’s smiling face appeared on his
screen. She was quite amazed that he insisted upon taking her picture to save
on his phone.
“Sweetlips,
this is a nice surprise.”
“Hi, honey. I
am sorry to bother you at the office. Do you have a second?”
“For you,
baby, always.”
“Flatterer. I
forgot to tell you last night that my uncle is visiting from Australia and I
promised him more than a month ago that I’d take him on a nightlife tour of the
city.”
Tiaan did not
respond. He waited for the invitation, but it never came.
“Tiaan?”
“Not a
problem, Allison. You have to excuse me, I am late for a meeting.”
He abruptly
ended the call and, taking his iPad, stalked to the boardroom for his meeting
with the project team. He refused to allow his mind to wander. With
difficulty, he suppressed his anger at her neglecting to invite him on the
outing. He frowned, realizing that over the past two weeks she had steered him
away from meeting anyone in her life. Her friends, even her parents.
His phone
beeped and he yanked it out of his pants, stabbing the text message open, which
he noticed was from Allison.
Allison : “I wanted to tell you that I won’t be staying at your place for the rest of
the week. Uncle Paddy will be bunking at my place.”
“Fucking
hell!”
Tiaan : “Like hell you won’t. There are more than enough rooms at my place. Be
there when I get home, Allison.”
He stabbed at
the screen so hard, it was a wonder he did not shatter the glass screen.
Allison : “Don’t be silly, honey. I can’t have my family take over your house.”
Tiaan did not
bother to type another message, he scrolled to her name and swiped the screen
to call. She answered almost immediately.
“You do not
want to anger me with stupid shit like this, Allison. You know I want you to
move in with me. Be there when I get home. If I have to come and find you, I
am going to be seriously pissed off.”
He ended the
call immediately and walked into the boardroom. His jaw rigid.
“I sincerely hope
you have all the answers I need on the Deville contract, Jillian.”
His anger simmered on the surface
and the members of the project team sat up straighter in their chairs.
Jillian, the Project Manager sighed. It was going to be a long day.
Allison
slammed her cell phone down on her desk and cursed.
How
arrogant, controlling and overbearing can one damn man get? Just who did he
think he was to snap an instruction like that and then end the call.
She pressed
the buzzer on her phone and Jeannie walked in shortly thereafter.
“Yes, Doc?”
“How many
appointments do we have left today, Jeannie?”
“That was the
last one. Remember, you asked me to ensure we keep this afternoon open because
your Uncle was arriving from Australia.”
“I did, didn’t
I? Well, that is a relief. I’ll be leaving within ten minutes.”
“Don’t forget,
you only have morning appointments for the rest of the week.”
“Now I know
why I pay you such an excellent salary.”
Jeannie
chuckled and disappeared. Allison opened the search engine on her laptop and
Googled Sheppard Holdings to find the address.
Allison’s
heels clattered on the marble floor of the imposing lobby of the Sheppard
Holdings building. She stood gaping up to the skyscraper for
