waited any longer without this, it may be a stolen moment for now but please baby meet me tonight, in fact come and have dinner I am sure I have some mac and cheese in the cupboard, my cooking skills are not that amazing I’m afraid. I just know I need to be in you and soon”

“Of course I will, I haven’t stopped thinking about last time, and I need you too” Was this really happening, could this lanky redhead with the strange accent really be this lucky, could she really have snared the most handsome man ever? His fingers and thumb still worked their magic and I bit my lip, hard enough to draw blood, the metallic taste lingering on my tongue. This was wrong we couldn’t do this not here; grabbing his hand to stop him I whispered, “this can wait until later big boy”

“FUCK I don’t believe you stopped me baby, but be warned there will be no stopping later, if you thought what we shared last time was hot you have no idea what is coming after dinner. I am going to head on now but I will see you later say 7pm on Friday? Oh and you wont be going home all weekend” I winked as I zipped her shorts and unlocked the door. I placed a gentle kiss on her lips and left. Her eyes were glazed over and her lips red from where my mouth had been. I knew by the look she had that she felt the same way .

Just like that he left, I placed my fingers on my lips and smiled could this really be the one, surely it was too soon to feel this way about a man, he had only been in town a week.  I made my way to Tessa’s room, and walked straight into Becca as she came out of the door. If looks could kill I would have been in my grave. Not a word spoken just the look from hell as she walked away. I felt my temper bubbling into action, I needed to keep my mouth shut, it was too soon to be going public, I mean it could just be sex and could quite easily turn to nothing.  I watched as she walked down the hall, a quick glance over her shoulder and there it was again, that look. No way could I hold it back, I set off after her. As I turned the corner the elevator door had just closed, so I headed for the stairs.

At the bottom I entered the main entrance area to the hospital, to see Becca leaving the building. My temper had taken control and I was ready to say my piece. I ran after her, I must have seen the red mist because before I knew what I was doing I had grabbed her short hair and pulled her back. She fell to the ground heavily and looked up in dismay. I still had her by the hair and straddled her, leaning forward, I got right into her face, “this is the only time I am going to say this bitch, one more look like you have been giving me this afternoon and I am going to show you just what the Irish temper looks like. If this has made you worried then believe me you will take heed, as this is me still relatively calm, do you understand?” she just stared up at me in total shock, no reply “DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?” She nodded her head and swallowed back what I can only presume was a sob; her eyes had reddened and had turned watery. I stood up, tidied myself up and headed back inside. I don’t think she will be a problem after that.

By the time I had got back to where Tessa was I was totally calm but did feel a little ashamed of how I had behaved, we were all supposed to be friends. Back in Belfast you had to state your claim or some slapper would have her way and you would be left alone. I had soon learnt that I needed to stand up for myself.

I rushed to the bedside and gave Tessa a hug, she looked such a sorry sight, all spaced out on morphine, she managed to raise a smile though so Cathy and I smiled at one another safe in the knowledge that our friend would be fine even if she was a little broken at the moment. I decided to make my excuses and make my way home; after all I had a big night to prepare myself for.
