doesn't. He looks back over his shoulder, “Get some rest,” he whispers to her, before disappearing behind the bathroom door.
Kara lets out a deep breath, turning on to her side and gripping the pillow beneath her. Then and there she realises just how heavy her lids are. There's a dull, subtle ache throughout her body, although much of it was soothed away by the bath. But tired she's not. She forces her eyes shut, but she can't force herself to sleep. She can only think about him—his face, his body, his touch. The wildcard of his hands being either gentle or rough with her body had become like a high to her.
She keeps her eyes locked on the closed door, listening closely to the muffled hum of the shower, envisioning millions of tiny drops of water dribbling down his chest, wishing she were in there with him. Her own hand travels down between her thighs, touching herself in the spot where he'd taken her roughly just a couple of hours before. He had fucked her good and well and she loved every minute of it. But now, she wanted him to make love to her between the sheets.
She pulls back the covers just as she hears him open the bathroom door. She Catches a glimpse of his naked hip and thigh before he ties his towel, slung low beneath his hips. Her breath hitches as her eyes travel over his damp body, the glint of light reflecting off of his wet hair.
“ How are you feeling?” he says, his gaze wavering.
    “ I'm fine.”
He nods. “You should get some more rest.”
“ I don't want to rest,” she says. She extends her leg off the side of the bed, brushing her foot against his calf. “Besides, I'm still yours for a couple more hours,” she adds with a smirk. She reaches for the knot on his towel, pulling him closer to the bed before pulling it off his waist entirely.
She pulls him closer by the hips but he barely budges. His eyes look heavy and sad.
    “ What's wrong?” she asks.
He reaches a hand for cheek, touching her lightly. “I pushed you too hard today. I went too far.”
“ You're still here,” she says softly to him.
He looks at her confusedly at first, but then his face softens as if he's starting to understand.
She reaches out to him and pulls him down to the bed on top of her. She guides him with her hands, touching his waist and shoulder as he nestles his body between her thighs. He lowers himself down on to her, touching her lips with his own. His kiss is pensive, tortuously slow, and passionate. His lips part taking hers with them and he presses his tongue against her own. His hand settles on her breast and he breaks the kiss, and exhales against her neck. He sounds like the weight of the world has been lifted off her shoulders. She wraps her arms around him and cradles his neck.
“ I hurt you,” he says, kneading her body softly. “I don't want to hurt you anymore.”
“ I can take it,” she says, kissing his temple, running her fingers through his locks. “All I want is for you to come back to me. Every single time,” she says.
He presses his lip and tongue against her collarbone. “That I can do,” he says.
Her step brother has two faces, that much she knows is true. And she loves them both equally.
