Jace and then Mason bid. The bids went high quick, up to a thousand points from different brothers spread around the clubroom. Tank bid two thousand, stating that he and Buck had pooled their points. No one would have the points to beat him because the men had the auctions monthly, and no one really made the effort to accumulate a great number of points.
When Mason and Adam both bid, combining their points, Rhys was certain Adam was trying to keep Tank from owning Broni. It went back and forth, the bidding becoming higher than Rhys had ever known it to get. Tank had the last bid at fifteen thousand. From the expression on Adam and Mason’s faces, they were at their limit.
“Going once, going twice…” Dee’s voice hesitated.
“Thirty thousand.”
Everyone in the club turned to look at him in shock. He had never bid during the auctions since he had beg un riding with the Dark Highwaymen.
“Going, going, gone ,” Dee yelled out, her voice filled with relief.
“Bullshit! She was mine!” As Tank threw his chair at the stage, Broni didn’t move from the wood pieces as it broke apart.
“Cut it out, Tank . Rhys won fair and square,” Adam spoke above the loud voices.
“Rhys could n’t have that many points.”
“Actually , he has twenty thousand left. He’s never bid before, and he takes the most dangerous runs,” Jace spoke up, holding the notebook up so that those next to him could see.
Tank shrugged away from one of his friend ’s restraining hand, going to the bar, and grabbing Nikki by the arm. Rhys stood up, but Adam stepped in before Rhys had to.
“Leave the women alone tonight , Tank. Nikki’s not recovered from the last time you had her, and Layla, Dee and Becca are already spoken for tonight. You need to cool down before you touch another woman.”
“That’s the whole point of fucking them.” Tank sneered . Turning on his heel, he stormed from the club, his friends following quickly behind him.
Rhys caught the subtle movement of Adam motioning for Jace to follow. After he left , the music was turned back on. Rhys resumed his seat, motioning for Layla to bring him a glass of his bourbon while Broni jumped off the stage, tugging on a shirt Dee handed her. Rhys watched as it caught on the tip of her tit. She had to adjust it to pull it down. She then headed to his table with a grateful smile on her mouth.
Damn , Rhys said to himself. He hadn’t been able to bring himself to let Tank destroy her; now he was going to have to make it clear that he had done it so that she wouldn’t be hurt, not because he actually cared.
His thoughts about letting her go without touching her ended as he watched her tits bou nce underneath the thin t-shirt she wore. He could always let her go when he was finished fucking her. Maybe.
Chapter 7
“Thank you, Rhys ,” Broni said as she came to stand next to his table.
The experience of standing on that stage while half-naked with Tank’s intense focus on what he was going to do to her if he won had sent chills down her body. She was certain that she could have defended herself, yet it was much better if she never had to find out. It would have been impossible to continue to live in the clubhouse after she’d split him open with her sword, which was what she had planned if he had won. Outside, it would be much easier for her enemies to strike.
“Ready for bed?” His hoarse voice had Broni looking closer at his closed expression.
Broni nodded her head, relieved to be away from the scrutiny of the other bikers. Did they think he was going to fuck her on the table? She made no effort to hide her disgust as she followed Rhys to his room.
Once inside , she gathered a clean t-shirt and underwear, going to the shower. She took her time enjoying the silky feel of the water against her skin. Drying off, she dressed before going back to Rhys’s room where he was sitting on the side of the bed with his head in his hands. Broni knew what turmoil was
