mine—come home with me. Let’s get away from this place. I can see it’s killing you to be here.”
She managed to grab his boots by the door and put them on his feet without looking as she did it.
“You’ll love me again? You’ll forget the mean things I said about the baby?” Tears streamed down his cheeks. “’Cause I didn’t mean that shit. I was only worried about you.” He caressed her lower abdomen. “I want this kid, I do. I’m scared, but I . . . I’ll t-t-try,” he stammered at the end.
“We can talk about all that later, but, yes, I’ll love you however you need. You deserve to be happy.” She leaned in, kissed both his eyes in turn and then took his hand. “You’re with me, right?”
“I am.” He nodded and exhaled like he was relieved to hear all this.
He bent over, hugged her from the side and put his head on her shoulder. This time he moved much quicker toward the door.
She frowned at this dangling piece of wood he’d all but turned to kindling. Was this safe leaving it half-falling off this way? What if someone broke into the club?
“Max knows,” he said, watching her facial expressions. “He’ll take care of it. He always does when I escape to go looking for you. He knows I’m an animal.”
She nodded, swallowed once more though her throat was dry and scratchy as hell.
He was more compliant, so before he changed his mind, she dragged him along over to her vehicle.
    “You got a new car?”
“The other one had a lot of mileage.” She fought off a grimace. God, she sucked as a liar, but he seemed convinced with everything so far.
She opened the car door, let him in and she even buckled him like he was a small child. He sniffed after her like he was a dog. “You smell fucking good. Too good. I don’t remember you smelling this good before, but I like it. I can tell you’re turned on just by this.” He whiffed at her hair, grazing her neck with his nose. “It makes me want to fuck you so bad.” As soon as she had the buckle clicked in place, he grabbed her hand and put it on his erection. “Feel that? It’s twitching and bulging for you, my little slut. It likes how wet you get and when you scream my name, my fucking God—I die inside. I fall apart, all for you. To have you in my hands, trusting me not to hurt you, even though you know I could crush you to dust without even trying.”
“Sweetheart, I’m going to back away now. You should think about how we’re going to sleep when we get to my house, okay? You need your rest, and so do I.”
He nodded and his eyes glazed over again as his head lolled to the side.
Jesus—it was like he took her command literally and was almost falling asleep on the spot. “Good boy. You go ahead and take a nap. I’ll take us to my house, but once we get there, I’ll need you to wake up just enough to get inside. I can’t carry you. It’ll break my back.” She stroked his jaw.
His eyes lit up for a moment. “You’re touching me again. You know I’ll do anything for you when you touch me. I fucking love having your hands on me, even it hurts like fucking hell.” He leaned forward and puckered.
    She kissed him—slow and measured.
He groaned like he was dying to have more. “Please . . . I want you. Can’t I fuck you now? I’ll be good. I’ll pull out,” he whimpered.
“In my bed. It’ll be better there. We can take our time.”
“Fuck—that sounds perfect, and so sexy. You’re sexy, did I ever tell you that? You turn me on.” He blinked and then looked hazy again.
“I’m sure you have, cutie, but it’s time to leave.” She patted his thigh and her hand drifted away.
“Wait! Call me that agaaaain,” he slurred a little.
“Cutie with the biggest dick I’ve ever seen?”
He laughed and it was low and hoarse. “You’ve never said that before.”
She pulled away, knowing exactly where this was headed, but she refused to take advantage of this man. He was broken, maybe beyond repair, but she
