child star. People like to keep up with celebrities.â
âSheâs been out of the spotlight for so long, I think sheâs forgotten she was once a star,â Jason added while typing a response to one of his employees. âI see, other than my little drama, nothing else has gotten out of hand.â
âWeâve got everything under control. I talked to Max and he wants to meet with us on Wednesday.â
âWith everything going on, I hadnât even thought about asking Amber to renew her contract.â
âYouâve had more important things on your mind. Love will make you lose your train of thought,â Charlotte said.
âWho said I was in love?â Jason smiled as he asked the question.
âIâve seen how you look at her when you think no one is watching. And thatâs all Iâm going to say,â Charlotte responded.
âEnough about me. Whatâs going on with you?â he asked. Jason stopped typing and gave Charlotte his undivided attention.
Charlotte burst out crying. It caught Jason off guard.
âCharlotte, do I need to come over there? Whatâs wrong?â Jason asked question after question.
âItâs Sean. I think heâs having an affair. Iâm about to have his baby, and I donât have the strength to confront him.â
Jason laughed.
âJason, this is not funny. Iâm serious,â Charlotte shouted from the other end of the line.
âStop crying.â
âWhat am I supposed to do? Iâm always fixing other peopleâs lives, but whoâs going to fix mine?â
Jason scrolled through his contacts and sent Sean a quick text message: We need to talk .
He said to Charlotte over the phone, âYou and I both know Sean is not sleeping with anyone else. That man adores you.â
âI thought so too, but lately heâs been acting strange. He wonât even touch me. My Sean would never not touch me. But this new Sean? He acts as if I have the plague or something. And this is his baby Iâm carrying, so why is he acting like this with me?â
Jason didnât know, but he didnât like hearing that his business partner and best friend was hurting. If Sean was messing around on Charlotte, he would have hell to pay.
His phone beeped, alerting him to an incoming text.
âCharlotte, calm down. Itâs not good for the baby and itâs not good for you. Try to get some rest. Iâm sure nothingâs going on.â
âIâll try, Jason. Iâll see you tomorrow.â
Seconds after hanging up with Charlotte, Jason dialed Seanâs number.
âIf itâs not the newlywed,â Sean teased.
Jason interrupted him. âForget that. I need to know who youâre screwing and why?â
âExcuse me?â Sean responded.
âYou heard me. How long have you been having an affair?â
âJason, where is this coming from? Affair? Iâm not having an affair. Iâm a happily married man. My wifeâs about to have a baby. But you know that.â
âI just got off the phone with your wife, and she thinks youâre having an affair.â
âJason, I swear to you, I am not cheating. I love Charlotte. Sheâs my world. I would never do her like that.â
âYou need to explain yourself. Why are you treating her as if she has the plague? Her words, not mine.â
Sean sighed aloud. âMan, Iâve been trying to deal with her being pregnant the best way I know how. I want to touch her, but I donât want to hurt the baby. I keep my distance because being around her keeps me in a constant state of arousal, especially knowing sheâs carrying my child inside of her.â
Jason felt relieved. He wouldnât have to hurt Sean after all. âI think you two need to talk. She thinks youâre acting funny with her because youâre sleeping with another woman. You donât want to touch her because youâre
