for months. I try to be here for you, but you push me away. I can’t even have sex with my own wife. I would understand if it was for medical reasons or something like that; hell, I’d even understand if you were having a depressing day! But months?! We have kids who need you! Hell, I need you!” I said, sitting down on our bed.
    “I’m sorry, Rico.”
“Yeah, I know,” I said before going in the bathroom and closing the door, preparing to take a shower. I know she’s going through something, but I’ve tried to help. She won’t go to therapy; she won’t talk to me. What am I supposed to do? I’m at a dead end street.

“It’s just really fucking with me that I can’t find who’s doing this shit. I feel like it’s Mark, but you know how he is. He would have shown himself by now.”
“Yea, but he could have changed his approach. We just can’t put nothing past him. Who knows who is behind all of this though. We done made plenty of enemies over the years, but I thought the shit had died down by now.”
“Somebody told me they saw a girl that fit the description of China around my house at that time of day.”
“But why the fuck would she try to shoot up your house instead of mine?” Slick said, looking like he was in deep thought.
“Ion know man. We just gotta watch every fuckin body,” I said, taking a swig from the bottle of water that I was drinking. “Aye, what about that nigga Kay?” I asked Slick. When he heard his name, he held his head to the side, letting me know that he was somebody to watch.
“But I don’t understand why he would shoot up your house when he has beef with me because of Gena”
“Slick, dummy. We were making him so much money in that short period of time that we were copping from him. When we decided to go with a different connect, you remember how he acted. Saying shit like we wasn’t getting out alive, or some punk shit like that, and we walked right out of his office like we ain’t give a shit. That nigga pride and his pockets hurt. I mean, that nigga gon’ be rich for the rest of his life, but we was bringing in some bank; then we just snatched that shit back. I would be fuckin’ surprised if he didn’t have a hit out for our heads.”
“So where do we go from here?”
“We gon’ have to get Dro and Eric to stay on the lookout for Mark and Kay to see if they can get anything about who may have beef with us out of anybody, because you know the streets stay fuckin talking. We gon’ make sure our families’ straight cause if it’s one thing about this street life, these niggas will go after your family first and I can’t be having that shit.”
“Yeah, well let me go make sure my girl’s straight. Imma hit you up,” he said, dapping me up.
“One,” I said, getting in my truck and speeding off.
I went home and picked up Rayna because we had to get back to the warehouse and figure out what we were gonna do with her mom.
“How was your day?” I asked her.
“Good,” she said, looking out of the window; she hadn’t talked to me much since the incident happened the other day. I kinda felt like she blamed me for all the madness in her life, but I just tried to give her a better life. I wanted her to live better. I’m a street nigga, and this is what I do best. Yeah, one day I will get out of the game. I’m just putting myself in a position to be able to do that.
The drive on the way there was quiet, except for my music that was playing. I pulled up to the warehouse and parked the car; we both got out and walked up to the entrance. When we walked in, a couple of my workers were there cleaning up the place from a couple people we had to body this morning. We walked past them all and went downstairs to the basement. When we walked in, it smelled so bad so we both had to go back upstairs to grab our masks. We walked back down the stairs and saw Candice curled up in the corner.
“You ready to answer me yet?” She looked up and rolled
