I heard them very clearly, Abe. I heard them the same way I heard your voice while in the grocery a few months back, urging me to make better choices with
     my life.

    Toni thinking
rape rape murder murder
and Sophie getting ready as bait.

They are in the living room now, in the house that is not my house, heads together, plotting, plotting, like butchers waiting for the pig to
     slaughter.

They know me as Zeke, but I am really a million other men (you know this). If they want to kill Zeke then Zeke is dead.

    Dearest Abe,

Is everything all right with your brother? I think Zeke is going through some issues right now. I have already urged him to see our company counselor but
I don’t know if he’s seen her this past few days.

Toni is worried. I am worried. Frankly, I am scared. The two of you are like sons to me, Abe. Please talk to him.

    With love,

    Prophecies of the Cat

    Dear all,

I am eating a handful of butterflies, yellow and red. My spirit impregnates the earth, and thirteen thousand children fall from the trees like fruits.
They die and are reborn. They comfort me.

A cat spoke to me today, and he said you should all burn.

    “It’s raining,” Caleb said.
Lillian nearly jumped out of her skin. Caleb was now sitting on the couch, feet flat on the floor, eyes on the windows. Mimsy slinked around his legs.
    “You’re awake,” she said. “Jesus.”
“It’s raining,” Caleb said again. Lillian followed his gaze.
It was a humid day, and outside the windows the sun shone, scorching and bright.
    “No, it’s not,” she said.
    “You don’t see that?”
Lillian looked out of the windows again. “See what, Caleb?”
He didn’t answer. He stood up and went upstairs, followed by Mimsy.
Lillian should follow him but she couldn’t take her eyes off her phone.
Just five more minutes.

    Megi—

Thanks for your message. I haven’t spoken to him face-to-face for some weeks now. Although the last time we spoke he said he’s feeling the
stress at work. Maybe he just needs some time off?

Does he report directly to you or to Nick?

My project got approved! Nick Morales actually liked it. (Megi says he was one of your professors in UP?) It’s going to be a joint Pharma-Robotics
     project.

I can’t believe I’m going to be designing my own robot. Thinking of naming her after Mama. Do you think she’d like that?
