murmuring in German. "My life is ruined, there going to kick me out of the country."
Leon stared up into the sky, and spoke loudly. "Quietly, he repealed the Dolotovyan Purity Act. He demanded that the royal family be allowed to love anyone they pleased."
Gears started to turn in my head. This wasn't just about Nadya. This was about something else entirely.
Tears formed in my eyes.
"I apologize to Delia Barlec, she is a wonderful woman, but my heart rests elsewhere. I apologize to my love, Beatrice. I'm sorry it took me so long to find to the document that proved you could be my queen."
"You - you mean - " I stuttered.
"When I first saw you, I was infatuated by you. You were exotic. As I learned more though, my desire to have you only grew more. I wanted to have you - in the flesh, and in the mind, and in the soul. You are the woman I want to rule by. I want your idealism to guide Dolotovya to the future."
My heart was about to tear out of my chest. I dreamed of this, that one day a guy would ask me to be his. This was well and beyond that.
"Beatrice, if you would forgive me for my failures, please take this." Out of his pocket he produced a fine velvet box. Within was a glorious diamond adorned on a golden band. He dropped to his knee, and presented it to me.
"Ohmigod, Ohmigod!" Jess exclaimed, feet away from this.
"The whole country is watching us, Beatrice. If you will not forgive me, you can break my heart in front of the whole country. I am ready for your verdict. Will you marry me?"
Less than five minutes ago, I was cursing his name under my breath. It's said when you feel so strongly about someone, though, hate and love aren't that far from each other.
Every eye was set on me at that moment. The crowd of Dolotovyans, my friends, and even Nadya who was wiping her tears up in relief.
"Will you, Beatrice?" Leon asked once more.
My mouth was wide open. I had to fight hard to speak. "Yes! I will!"
The ring was swiftly slid on my finger and he picked me up, swinging me around in sheer joy. Nothing else mattered except me and him.
As the interpreter translated, the crowd cheered. They were all a blur in the spin of bliss.
Finally he stopped, me slightly dizzy. He then plunged his tongue into mine and I shared a blissful kiss with him, my mind exploding with wonderful thoughts of what's happening and what is to come.
The deep kiss broke. "Apologies. A man swinging his woman after a confirmed engagement is simply Dolotovyan tradition."
I blushed wildly - and suddenly realized a secret of my own wasn't so shameful.
Grabbing him by the hair, I brought his ears to my mouth. "I'm pregnant."
Joy claimed him. I was swung once again.
Finally, he pulled me close and stroked my hair. "I guess, then, we will have a wedding - and shortly after, a coronation."
The cheering continued as the float began to make it's way back to the palace.
Never once did our embrace break during the trip.

Through the doors of the palace, neither of us cared what was going on with Nadya or my friends. There was only us at this moment. If they wanted a show, they could have had it for all I cared.
Leon, though, was a bit less flustered. He took me to the master bedroom of the palace, and dropped me gently on the bed. He closed and locked the door - no exhibitionism in front of my friends tonight.
I kicked off my heels, pushed myself up on the bed, holding myself up on the back of my elbows, my eyes heavy with desire for him.
Leon removed his tie, slowly approaching. "My dream that night came true."
"That would be?"
"That you were lying and it wasn't completely safe. That there would be something to forever link me to you even if you left me."
All I could do was laugh. "You know what's stupid? I felt the exact same thing." The laughter stopped as I remembered. "All those months though, I've been filled with regret about it. As if I were used, an ignorant fool."
"Never feel that way again, Beatrice." He took
