of his boxers. I wanted to check myself out, but he didn’t seem to have a single mirror outside of the bathroom.

“You don’t need a mirror to know you look hot as fuck. I’ll tell you every single time, baby.” God, Thunder just knew how to push my buttons.

His bedroom was worlds better than mine. It was a bachelor pad, sure, but it was comfortable. As I crawled beneath the dark sheets of his king-size bed, a calmness came over me that I hadn’t felt all day. The problems and questions were mounting up, but after the incredible sex with Thunder, I at least had endorphins running through my body.

“Okay, so who are the Devil’s Branch Motorcycle Club, And why are they after me?”

Thunder shook his head as he turned off the light. “No idea why they’re after you. The Devil’s Branch is a biker club that’s been around Davis and Sacramento for decades. It’s clear they’re not happy about the Rising Sons opening a chapter in this area. Why they’re after you is a mystery. I think our best bet is to talk with Trask. If we lay our cards on the table, maybe he know something we don’t.”

He slid beneath the sheets and pressed his large body against my own. It felt so comforting to be the small spoon. His warmth and his muscles surrounded me. It hit me just how tired I was.

I smiled in the dark, “Funny thing about that. I already have a meeting with him tomorrow.”

Thunder kiss the back of my neck and let out a soft groan, “We’ll find out why the Devil’s Branch is after you, and then we’ll find out who you are. Don’t worry, baby.”

Over coffee, Thunder and I discussed everything we knew.

“I don’t know how much help it will be, but maybe Trask knows why the Devil’s Branch is after me.” I was almost used to the confusion. It had been a little over a day since I woke up without a memory, and I didn’t have a single answer for one of the many questions that were piling up.

Thunder was deep in thought. His hands were around the mug of steaming coffee, and his tongue pressed against the inside of his cheek. There was something adorable about it. Adorable in a badass way, of course. I couldn’t help but watch him.

He nodded, “The Rising Sons are new in town, but a lot of the members are Davis lifers. I’m sure with a little bit of digging, we can find out what’s up. The thing that gets me is that those two assholes knew you were DEA. My guess is that their plan was to pose as your handlers and take you in. I don’t know where ’in’ is, exactly, but I doubt it would have been pleasant. Devil’s Branch knows more than you do. If they know you are DEA, I bet they know your real identity.”

I let the words sink in. Everyone associated with the Rising Sons only knew my alias. They only knew Patience, the local sweetbutt. Somehow a rival club knew who I worked for. It was hard to believe, but what else was new?

“We should’ve taken one of those guys last night,” I couldn’t believe those words came out of my mouth, but I knew it to be true. If we had been able to question one of them, our problems would’ve been solved.

Thunder shrugged, “Yeah, maybe. Or maybe taking one of their guys would have meant raining hell down on the Rising Sons. I’m a Son, and that means my actions are the actions of the club.” His words made sense, but I didn’t want to believe it. “And now you’re with me, so your actions are the actions of the club.”

I have to admit, Thunder caught me off guard with that remark. “Oh, I’m with you, now?”

“Oh, you’re not?” Thunder’s mocking tone didn’t help anything.

I shot a look back at him, “I’m not Patience, you know.”

    “I know that. That’s why I said we’re together . This wasn’t just a one night stand.”

It wasn’t? Thunder wanted more? More questions without answers. “We’ll talk about that later. Why don’t we had to the bar so we can catch up with Trask. If he gives the okay, can we
