had made too many mistakes during the robbery.
That voice in my head that had been sounding angry and tempting me to actually commit the crime, returned to my head, only this time the voice sounded more compassionate. Well, at least you got the first one off your chest , the voice said. I ridiculously nodded my head in agreement with that voice because I knew that there would be many more robberies to come.
As I sat and tried to play reverse psychology tricks on my conscience, Dwight instructed Wiggie to exit from the highway. We had driven far enough from the first crime scene and we werenât in any clear and present danger of getting caught. After exiting from the highway we realized that we werenât too far from our point of destination. We found ourselves in a town called Hempstead, which was located on Long Island. We drove around Hempstead for about twenty minutes just looking for our next victim.
âOh, whoa! Look at those honeys over there!â Dwight exclaimed. âWiggie, hurry up and go catch up to them.â
Wiggie hastily made a U-turn and pulled up alongside these two fine black females.
âExcuse me. Hello, hello. How yâall doinâ?â Wiggie asked the two young ladies.
At first the women werenât too responsive, but before you knew it, Wiggie, with his smooth words, was able to get a conversation going.
âIâm sayinâ, canât a brotha at least get a hello?â Wiggie asked.
One of the females seemed turned off by the unwanted attention that they were receiving from us. With an attitude, she twisted her head and spoke.
âFirst of all, we donât even know yâall. We just canât be speaking to anybody.â
The other female had a completely opposite demeanor as she first responded to her friend and then she acknowledged us.
âNah, chill, they seem cool. So, whatâs up? How yâall doing?â she asked.
From that, a conversation began to flow. As the two spoke to us, we found out that they were both nineteen-years-old and attended Adelphi University. They were in summer school.
Adelphi University was near Hempstead. It was located in the adjacent affluent town called Garden City. We also found out that their names were Lisa and Kim. Lisa was the more friendly of the two.
Wiggie asked Lisa for her phone number and she gave it to him. These stupid, non-street-smart women didnât even realize that they were about to get robbed. They played right into our hands when they asked us for a ride.
âWhy donât yâall do us a favor and drop us off on campus?â Lisa asked.
âYeah, no problem, weâll drop yâall off,â Wiggie coolly and calmly replied.
So the two got in and we drove toward the campus. As we were driving, Wiggie continued to converse with Lisa. Kim was also starting to loosen up as words began to flow out of her mouth as well. While we were all engaged in conversation, Dwight slowly turned his body around so that he could face the backseat of the car. He was smiling a nice, big, Kool-Aid type of smile, and as shrewd as a cobra he pulled out his gun. He had a black 9mm.
âIâm sorry,â he told them, sounding as if he was amusing himself with his actions. âSorry, but yâall gots to give up all yâall money, jewels, and whatever else you have.â
The two young ladies were sitting right next to me, with one on my left and the other on my right. They both hesitated and looked at each other as if they were dumbfounded. They had good reason to look confused. I mean five seconds ago Dwight was asking them about their GPAs, and just that quickly he had a gun pointed in their faces, asking for their goods. Dwight appeared to have slipped into a rage as he screamed at them.
âYo, this ainât no game! Now both of yâall run the jewels!â
With a gun to their heads, Lisa and Kim were left with very few options, so they wisely complied with
