car.”
                  “Thanks Mack.”
Mykell licked his lips and gave me a hug, taking that as an opportunity to catch a free feel. “I love you and happy birthday,” he whispered in my ear, lightly kissing it. I felt a tingle go through my body. I blushed and thanked him. The DJ started playing “Twerk It” by Busta and Lani and I gave each other that look. We headed straight for the dance floor. We moved our bodies to the beat of the music like we were at home in the mirror. When Nicki’s part came on, I lost my mind. I loved Nicki’s exotic ass. I felt all eyes on me but I didn’t give a damn. It was my night and I wasn’t about to let anyone kill my vibe.

I sat in the corner in the back of the club watching that bitch act like she owned the place. She was on the dance floor like she had no worries in the world. Too bad she didn’t know what was about to hit her ass. I saw Mykell up in VIP drooling over her ass like she was all that or some shit. I’d let her enjoy her time for a little while longer. Then it was time to stir some shit up.

To say I was having the time of my life would be an understatement. I really wasn’t much of a drinker, but I had just turned 21, so why the hell not? I went to the bar and saw Johnny. He reached over the bar and hugged me. “Long time no see, baby girl, happy birthday by the way.”
“Thanks, Johnny,” I smiled. “Can I get some Peach Ciroc, please?”
                  “Anything for you, baby girl.”
While I waited for my drink, I felt a presence behind me and already knew who it was. I knew his scent anywhere. “Having fun?”
I turned around and smiled at Mykell. I was about to respond before his new tattoo caught my eye. I was my name in big bold letters on his chest. I saw it through his white V-neck. “Oh my gosh Kell! When did you get this?”
“Earlier today. I got it for your birthday. It’s not the whole thing, and it’s not finished.” I was taken aback, it was gorgeous, and I was shocked he did it. “It’s beautiful.”
“I’m glad you like it.” He smiled. “You owe me a dance.”
I was about to say something when Kamil came on the mic. “I wanna thank everybody for coming out and showing my lady some love on her birthday. We’ve got about 15 minutes before 12:00 but that don’t mean the party is over. That just means I need to hurry up and give her the last present. Baby, come here.”
I walked to the DJ booth and the spotlight hit us. “Baby, I just want to tell you how much I love you and how happy you make me. I remember the first time I laid eyes on you, it was your birthday, and you were working at Hooters. That day I knew you were something special, but you wouldn’t give a nigga no play and kept my ass in the friend zone,” he laughed and so did the crowd. “But fate finally brought us together and I’m the luckiest man on earth. All I wanna know is, will you marry me?” He got down on his knee and opened a ring box. My jaw hit the floor. It was the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen; besides the one Mykell gave me.
I had tears flowing from my eyes. “YES,” I yelled. He stood up and I jumped in his arms hugging him tightly. That was the best birthday ever. “Promise” by Jagged Edge came on and he led me to the dance floor. I felt like I was floating on cloud nine. “This night can’t get any better.” We danced through “Let’s Get Married,” “Sure Thing,” and when “Must Be Nice” came on; Mykell tapped Kamil on the shoulder. “Can I steal a dance with the birthday girl real quick?” he asked. Kamil said yeah without hesitation.
