steaming mug of coffee down on the nightstand next to where I'm sitting on the bed. I'm wrapped in the sheet we just made love on.
"Do you always serve coffee in the nude?" I giggle as I pick up the mug.
"Be careful." He reaches to pull it away from me. "It's hot. Let it cool for a minute."
I pretend to pout as he sits next to me. I drink in the sight of his naked body. He's so comfortable sharing himself with me now. He's opened up. I can see it and I felt it when he took me into his bed.
"I need to go to Boston to see my dad." I purse my lips, knowing that it may be too early to bring this up but it's something I desperately want.
"You've never mentioned him before." He reaches for the mug now and takes a sip himself before placing it back down. "Is he alright?"
I take a deep breath. "He's fine. We were actually estranged for a few years."
He raises an eyebrow and I know instinctively that he wants more details about that.
"My Mark years." I wrinkle my nose hoping that will explain enough that I won't have to go into specifics.
"I like your father already." He reaches for the mug again and hands it to me after taking a sip of the steaming, fragrant coffee.
"I asked him to take the train here so we could talk about things and it went really well." I smile as I remember the huge bear hug my father had given me on the platform at Grand Central Station before boarding his train home.
"I'm glad." He rests his chin on my knees and stares into my eyes. "Family is really important."
"I agree." I reach for his hair and pull it through my fingers. He closes his eyes in response and lets out a faint moan. "That's why I wanted you to come with me to celebrate his birthday this weekend."
He pulls his head up so quickly that I have little time to react. I pull his hair by mistake and he yelps.
"I'm sorry." I giggle. "There should be a warning when you move like that."
He pulls his hand into a fist and playfully shakes it at me. "I should punish you for pulling my hair out." He reaches to rub his scalp.
"I'll kiss it and make it better." I pull my bottom lip out and whimper.
He launches his body towards me and I melt into his arms once again.

Chapter 12

"Will you come with me to Boston this weekend?" I place my left foot into the stiletto I dropped in the living room last night. I scan the floor looking for its partner.
"Is it really that important to you?" He comes around the corner dangling my wayward shoe from his finger. He kneels down and helps me slide my foot into it. Before he stands, he sensually runs his hand along my calf.
I look down at him before answering. "I want you to meet my father. I just want him to see that I've made a good choice in selling my shares to you."
He embraces my legs briefly before he pulls himself to a standing position again. "If you want me to be there, I'll be there."
"You don't know how much I appreciate that." I feel my heart leap. I know that we've made tremendous strides forward since last night but asking him to come home with me to meet my dad is something I didn't expect he'd agree to.
"I told you I'd do anything for you, beautiful." He leans forward and lightly brushes the tip of my nose with his lips. "I meant it."
"Well…" I fling my arms around his neck and nuzzle my face into his shoulder, "there is one more thing."
"Again, Ivy?" He starts to unbutton the perfectly pressed light blue dress shirt he put on not more than fifteen minutes ago. "You're insatiable but I'm not complaining."
I giggle as I impishly tap his hands away from his collar. "No, not that. I'd prefer to be able to move for the rest of the week so I'll take a rain check."
"What is it then?" He motions for me to sit on the couch. "And for the record, the rain check expires this evening so you'll need to cash it in before midnight."
'"Like a pumpkin?" I tilt my head to the left in mock confusion.
"Sure, Cinderella." He reaches for my hand and cradles it in his. "What is the one more
