a lot of traveling. There is definitely something about you that makes me feel a passion I’ve never felt before.”
She dropped her eyes, feeling a little out of her depth. She was unused to a man being so up front about his desire for her. Abdul wasn’t the kind of man who freely gave compliments, and the unfamiliarity of this new situation made her struggle for the right words. “I must admit I’m a little surprised by the chain of events also. When I went to the basketball game, I had no idea that we would end up like this,” she admitted with a smile.
    â€œNo regrets?” he asked softly.
    â€œNo regrets,” Sasha reassured him.
Sexton lifted her arm and turned it over. He planted a kiss on the inside of her arm right below her palm and Sasha again felt a warm stirring in her belly. “You caught me off guard. I usually like to wine and dine a woman before I make love to her, but I just couldn’t pass up the invitation you so sexily delivered last night. I was just afraid that you were inebriated and didn’t know what you were doing.”
Sasha stared at Sexton and felt that she should explain. “I wanted to sleep with you without us going through the rituals. I haven’t been dating for a while, but in the past I have always chosen to be intimate with a man before he spent any money on me. That way I didn’t feel as if I owed him anything or that I was paying off some unspoken debt. Emulating the lifestyle of a hooker doesn’t appeal to me.”
â€œOh,” Sexton teased, “so you seduced me? You lured me up to your lair so that you could have your way with me. I’m just glad that you knew what you were doing, and that the alcohol wasn’t doing your thinking for you.”
â€œI have never slept with a man because I was too drunk to know what I was doing.” She hesitated and then, because she wanted to be absolutely truthful to him added, “But there have been times when I slept with someone sooner than I planned. But this is different. I don’t usually participate in one night stands.”
Sexton looked down at her with quizzically. “What makes you think this is a one night stand?”
Sasha tried to explain what she meant. “I just don’t want you to think that you have to call me or anything. We’re adults and know that sometimes timing is everything. Someone can be at the right place at the right time, and people shouldn’t ruin it by trying later to turn nothing into something.”
â€œAre you trying to tell me that last night meant nothing?” Sexton moved from above Sasha and reached down for the sheet at the foot of the bed. He drew it up over their bodies. Then he moved further away from her to lie on his back.
â€œI’m saying no such thing.” Sasha leaned over and looked deeply into Sexton’s eyes. “You were more than I expected.” She looked at him and saw his brow was still raised in question. “I mean that I have found in the past that fine men like you don’t usually have a lot of conversation. Also, they’re not that good in bed because they really haven’t had to be. But I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by you.”
Sexton stared at Sasha, digesting the information she had just given him. “So you think that I’m fine?”
â€œUmm hmm,” she replied. “Believe me, I thoroughly enjoyed myself last night.”
Sexton did not respond. It was obvious he was doing some hard thinking because he lay very still. His next words were enunciated very slowly and deliberately. “The time we shared last night was just the tip of the iceberg, Sasha Diamond, and the fact that you could say that it would be okay if I didn’t try to see you again makes me know what I need to do in order to make you count the hours until you change your mind.” He gave her a look of intense sexuality. And with single minded
