fought a smile. For some reason she didn’t think he allowed himself this kind of freedom much. He held too tightly to his control to just let go.
“What if I duck you?” he smiled as he leaned closer to her. The pleasure in her face called to him. He chuckled at her doubtful look.
“You wouldn’t.” Katlyn pressed back against the rock, no where left to go.
“Oh, I would. I am very happy to play with you.” With a laugh of his own he ducked under the water and pulled at her ankles effectively yanking her under with him.
Opening her eyes under the water she found Micah reaching for her. He pulled her against him and let his legs entwine with hers. They didn’t sink. This thought stuck in her head as she looked into his eyes. They were not treading water but they were not sinking; another trick of his maybe? He smiled at her look of wonder and pushed her up so that she was above the surface.
Micah stilled instantly as they broke the surface. There was someone here, he couldn’t tell where yet but he could feel them. It may have the years of training he had in the military that threw up the red flags or the many times his brother Stochi had tracked him for fun but he could tell when he was being watched.
“You…..” Micah stopped her by pressing his lips softly to hers and then pulled away.
“We have company.” He said softly against her lips. He could feel them in the woods watching every move him and Katlyn made. It felt like a red hot poker aimed at the back of his head. They were both out in the middle of the water with nothing blocking them from whoever was in the woods. He didn’t like this one bit, he couldn’t protect her like this.
Katlyn glanced over his shou lder but could not see anything in the woods or on the rock by their things. “How?” she stopped as he barely shook his head.
He didn’t want them to know he was aware of the intrusion. This person had to have followed them through the woods, they didn’t just happen to be here at the same time. He didn’t believe in coincidences like this.
Micah moved his lips to her neck and whispered softly, “They are there, listen to the forest.”
Now that he had called attention to it she realized that there were no animal noises. Everything was silent around them, just the sound of the water from the falls hitting the rocks below. Something had disturbed them.
To an onlooker it looked as if they were completely absorbed with one another. However, Katlyn could see the concentration on his face; he was listening for them trying to pin point their location. She felt the rock against her back and looked into his eyes. Suddenly, it dawned on her what he was doing. By pressing her against the rock he was shielding her with his body. It was a completely protective gesture, one she wasn’t sure he even realized he was doing; but it was also a distraction that was keeping him from being able to look for who had intruded on their sanctuary.
Katlyn pushed against him slightly and turned; forcing him against the rock and allowing him a view of the forest. She felt his body tense almost immediately.
“It is your Officer Carver again. I am beginning to believe he likes watching us.” Micah cupped her upper thighs holding her above water as she ran her hands up his chest.
“Maybe he does.” she said distractedly. Thinking with him pressed against her like this was impossible. Leaning closer to him until their lips were only a hairsbreadth apart, she felt his breath mingle with hers. “I want to kiss you again.” His grip tightened on her legs at her softly spoken confession.
                  “Then why don’t
