too.”
“They’re both looking down on us and smiling, that’s for sure,” she says, her eyes glistening.
Before we break down into uncontrollable tears, she changes the subject. “So… Did you fall in love in New York?” she quietly asks.
“I thought I did, even thought about marrying him at one point, but it turns out everything was a lie. When he got arrested, I came home. I couldn’t afford New York on my own and all our accounts were frozen.” I sigh and run my fingers through my hair. I should have known better. Tyler was too good to be true.
“My dear, you do know it would have been illegal for you to marry that man, right?” She grins.
Placing my head in my hands, I nod. Her giggles cause me to laugh. “I didn’t know you knew,” I say, looking at her from between my fingers.
“Sweetheart, neither of you were ever any good at keeping quiet when you thought you were alone. I’m sure my poor Ben saw you two way more than he cared to, hearing you talking about getting married on more than one occasion.”
I can’t help but blush. I had no idea Ben saw us. Groaning, I hide my face again. “Oh, Lyn. You guys were kids and in love. Who were we to tell you to stay away from each other? At least you waited until you were both ready.”
“I’m so embarrassed.” I shake my head.
“I see the way you guys are with each other. You still love him, don’t you?”
“I love him more than anything. Since being back, I feel like I can breathe again.”

Chapter Twelve

When Jax comes back into the house, he’s all sweaty and dirty. He comes over to me and throws me over his shoulder. “Sorry, Momma, but I have some plans for this girl tonight.”
“Have fun,” she giggles, waving. He slaps my ass and walks us out the door. I wave to his mother while hanging upside down.
Smacking his ass, I tell him to let me down. He just chuckles and gives me a few more pats on the ass. “Darlin’, I have plans. Waiting for you to keep up with me is gonna take too long.” I hit his back and he just laughs harder, slowly letting me slide down his body. When I smell him and feel how hard his body is, every part of me starts humming.
He groans when I come into contact with his cock. “God, Lynd, your body still drives me fucking crazy.”
I can’t help but moan when I feel his hardness. I want nothing more than to get naked with him right now, but I have to remind myself that we need to take it slow.
He clears his throat, then grabs my hand and pulls me towards his place. "I'm trying to be a gentleman, but it's so fucking hard when all I want to do is strip you down and fuck you."
I let out a startled gasp and he just smirks. Before I know it, I am back over his shoulder and he is jogging to his house. Screaming and giggling, I pinch his butt until he finally puts me down on his front deck.
"I need to shower before I take you out,” he says with a wink, walking inside.
My stomach has flutters as I follow him, watching the way his ass moves in those tight jeans he's wearing. "Okay,” I squeak.
Turning around, he stalks right over to me and backs me up against the front door. His lips descend on mine, his tongue slipping into my mouth. When my phone starts to ring, Jax ignores it and picks me up. As we walk down the hall, a beautiful dog comes running towards us, almost knocking us over.
    "Down, Max!” Jax hollers.
When he starts to set me on the bed, I wrap my legs around his waist. "Come on. I stink,” he groans. I shake my head and kiss him until we are both breathless. Leaning over my body, he kisses a path down my neck, to the tops of my breasts.
“Mmm,” I moan as the scruff from his beard runs along my skin, my panties starting to dampen. I pull his body closer to mine, feeling his hardness. When I rub against him, I hear his sharp intake of breath. Resting his forehead against mine, he pins me down so I can’t move.
