she injected
a note of gaiety in her voice but she still kept her back to him. “I can do
that, can't I?”
“Hey,” Alec sat up turning her
to face him. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw and sensed the intense
sadness in her. He frowned in confusion before his face cleared in
understanding
“ Tamsyn ,”
he began. She kept her head down. “ Tamsyn , look at
me.”
Reluctantly Tamsyn raised her eyes and searched his. Her heart thudded at the strength of emotion
she saw in those dark blue depths.
“I didn't say I didn't want
children.”
“You didn't say you did,” she
countered quietly.
Alec shifted and knelt in front
of her.
“I have searched for you almost
all my life. Do you think that I will let you go now? I willna let you go.” He traced her jaw with his finger before rubbing her lower hip
with his thumb. “I will be the happiest man if I got you pregnant. A child. Our
child growing inside you.”
Tamsyn took a sharp intake of breath.
Disbelief and hope warred inside her. And hope was winning. Alec took her mouth
in a sweet kiss before he placed his forehead against hers.
“Marry me, Tamsyn ,”
he said. “I'm not me when you are not by my side. I want a life with you. Be by
my side and we will build our family together.” Alec blazed another trail of
kisses from the pulse at the base of her neck to her earlobe. “I won't let you
go. If I have to convince you again I will.”
Tamsyn laughed, happiness bubbling
inside her. She held Alec close.
“When you kept quiet I thought
you regretted that we didn't consider protection.” Her voice was muffled
against his neck.
“God, babe. If you only saw the
smile on my face when you said we didn't use protection. Just the thought of us
making a baby together.” Alec grinned as he looked at her with so much love. “I
couldn't ask for anything else. And I love children. Lots of them. And when we
have enough, I will love and worship your body over and over again.”
Tamsyn couldn't think of anything else
except how her life had changed. Tia would be happy for her, and Tamsyn couldn't wait to tell her best friend that she had
finally found someone. She was so happy. How this could happen to her she would
never know. Maybe her grandmother still watched over her and brought Alec to
her, knowing that she was alone in this world. But then, who was she to question
the greatest hand Fate had dealt her?
Alec stood up, taking her with
him.
“Now, did you say you wanted to
shower?” Alec asked, his eyes twinkling. “Mind if I join you?”
“Not in the least,” Tamsyn squealed, then giggled as Alec lifted her in his
arms to carry her up the stairs.
She came to Scotland to take a
break. But Scotland gave her much more.
It gave her Alec.
It brought her home.

the secret stories, about the people and the nations: the English, the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh,
and those who are now part of these nations whatever their origins. Her vision and passion are fuelled by her
interest and background in history and paradoxically, shaped by growing up in a
clan steeped in lore, loyalty, and legend.
Isobelle is intrigued by forces
that simmer beneath the surface of these cultures, the hidden passions, unsaid
desires, and yearnings unfulfilled.
