retiring early to spend time with her husband and to travel. That was weird. Helena loved this job, she wouldn’t voluntarily retire. What the hell had Chad done?
“Kendra,” Rory boomed from Chad’s office. “I need you in here.”
Tamara scuttled off to the reception desk again leaving Kendra to take a deep breath before going inside to see Rory.
    “Miss North, take a seat.”
She did, trying to calm down her breathing. Rory wasn’t known for his gentle nature.
“As you may be aware, Chad Caraway has a thing for secretaries. I want you to come to me if he tries anything with you…understand?”
She sighed silently. This wasn’t about her. It was about him.
“He’s been nothing but a gentleman to me.”
“And yet he requested you to be reassigned to the reception desk, and now…you’re back working for him.”
“Tamara didn’t like the assistant role. I was the only choice.”
“And you are okay with that?”
“Of course. I enjoy being an assistant and I love this company.”
Rory nodded his head and looked down to the desk where a document lay in front of him. “I appreciate your loyalty, Miss North. I could use an assistant like you with me at the head office.”
That role had been a revolving door for assistants. No one could handle Rory’s demands but the pay was incredibly generous. It would get her out of the office with Chad and she could actually progress in the head office.
    “You want me?”
“Yes. I’ve been told good things about you.”
    “Can I think about it?”
“But of course,” he said, pushing the document to the edge of the table. “Read it over and get back to me next week.”
Kendra stood up and reached over to the document before exiting the office. Chad was sitting in her chair, and everyone had gotten back to work. His fingers were laced together and his hands rested on his chest as he pushed back in her chair, relaxing.
    “Chad…”
    “Kendra…”
“Is there something I can help you with?”
He stood up, pushing her chair toward her, and moving away from her computer but he stayed there.
“You planning on explaining what happened?”
“Not here…” she replied in a hushed tone. She put the document in her desk drawer quickly but not quickly enough. Chad stopped her from closing the drawer and knelt down.
    “Climbing the ladder, are you?”
She turned to him, anger sparking through her.
“Before I make a scene, I suggest you fuck off to your office and do your job.”
Chad moved back, off his knees, and into his office. Kendra tried to breathe through the anger, because she knew the entire office would be whispering behind her back and she didn’t want to ruin her chances at becoming Rory’s assistant by going postal.

It had taken Chad all afternoon to get rid of Rory. His eyes hadn’t moved from Kendra all day which had only fuelled Chad’s anger more. She was actually thinking about leaving the office and him. He knew she had been freaked out by his offer for her to stay with him. She’d gone quiet and every time he had tried to explain, she would shove her mouth around his cock and blow his mind. Then…he’d woken up alone. A small knock landed on the door and he saw Kendra walk in hesitantly. “What is it?”
    “Uh…your ex-wife is here.”
“Which one?” he asked, fearing the answer.
“Selina. She won’t take no for an answer…what should I do?”
    “Let her in.”
Kendra nodded and opened the door for Selina who stormed past, her hands on her hips. She wore a tiny white mini skirt that barely hid her ass cheeks and a pink tank top. Her skin was a dark shade of olive which was new.
    “Selina.”
“What the hell? You’re having sluts over to the apartment already?”
“We’re divorced, Selina. You’re in the Bahamas with about four playboys at any given time. This isn’t new.”
“No…you and your sluts aren’t new either. You can’t keep your cock in your pants!”
    “Are you done?”
    Selina
