know that you were avoiding the issue. You didn't just use your Jedi Mind Tricks to fool us."
"Dude, we've talked about your Star Wars crap." Dan tries to look serious. He's enjoying the approval, but it's a bit much. Especially with Chris there, looking from one to the other of them as if he's trying to figure them out.
Evan just smiles. "Yeah, yeah. Act tough if you want to, Wheeler. Just don't do it too well, 'cause this way we all know that you're just acting."
Chris shakes his head. "This conversation has gone to a weird place, and I don't think I want to know any details. Couldn't we just go back to calling Dan a dirty flirt? That was fun."
Dan raises his eyebrows. "I don't know, Chris, this might be an important issue for you. I mean, if you're going into the gay-threesomecontract business, you might need to have an idea of the details, the

careful negotiations…"
Evan nods seriously. "It's not all favourite flavor of lube, man."
Chris raises his hands. "Okay, no! Once lube gets mentioned, that's a sign that we're going somewhere I don't want to go." He leans forward a little, looks earnestly from Evan to Jeff and then back. "You understand, it's not that I have a specific problem with this… there are just things I do not need to know about Danny's ass."
There's a bit of a pause, and then Dan snickers, and Evan grins at him. Jeff's the one who breaks, though. "Well, Chris, I think in this particular case, Dan's ass is the one thing you don't need to worry you'll be hearing about."
Chris's face passes rapidly from confused to alarmed and then back to confused. He turns and squints at Dan, then swivels to examine Evan and Jeff's expressions. Finally, he throws up his hands. "Nope, I've successfully avoided these thoughts so far, I'm going to keep working that approach." He makes his face exaggeratedly bright and cheerful. "So, the Cowboys! Dan's team comes through!"
The others let him change the subject, although it doesn't stay on football for long, and the rest of the drive home is fairly drama-free. But Dan remembers that he'd agreed to stay over at Jeff's another night, and from the looks on Jeff and Evan's faces, they're just biding their time; Dan thinks that the drama will probably be back before too long.

CHAPTER THREE - Jeff
Jeff likes having people in his house. He likes living alone, too, likes having his own space, but part of that is because he likes being able to invite people in and be the host, rather than just having someone there all the time.
And he likes having these particular people there, too. Dan and Evan, obviously, but it's amazing how easy it is to have Chris around. More than easy. It's good. He knows things about Dan that Jeff and Evan don't, and he's braver than they are, willing to push and prod and aggravate the man until Jeff almost feels sorry for him. Almost, because it's not hard to see how much Dan thrives on the attention, even if it isn't exactly positive.
Evan comes in from signing whatever he had to for the driver, and Lou tears herself away from Dan to greet the new arrival. Jeff knows it won't be long before she's back to her favorite, though; she may be Jeff's dog, but Dan and his easy-snacking policy own her heart. Jeff almost misses her, but he thinks it's nice for Dan to have access to an animal that he's allowed to spoil, after being disciplined with the horses all the time.
"I'm going to go have a look at what we've got for dinner. Do you guys want to go sit out back?" He's not at all hungry, but he figures he will be in a couple hours, and it doesn't hurt to plan ahead. And even if he's not hungry, lord knows Evan soon will be.
"We could just order in, man." Evan looks a little guilty, as if he's

aware that Jeff is thinking mostly about him.
"Nah, I've got stuff, no worries. We should barbeque, take advantage of the weather." He looks at Dan, then grins. "'Grill', I
