away now.”
“The only place you’re going is to my house. No one will get on my property without getting themselves killed.” She didn’t answer him but did take her pants from him when he handed them to her. “Thor, honey, you have to hurry. There might be more than just him here. Samuel is making a sweep of the hospital, but we have to get you to somewhere safe.”
“Do you have my gun? If not, do you know who does?” The tightening of the room was all the warning they had before Stephan and Vinnie were there. Vinnie handed her a large handgun, and Stephan picked up the dead man. “Are you going to take him to the morgue?”
“No.” Stephan looked at him before speaking to Thor. “You need to get to Kaleb’s house. There are at least three other humans in this building that we don’t know.”
“I need to fill out a statement. It was self-defense.” She looked at Vinnie before she continued, and Kaleb felt sorry for her. “What the fuck do you think is so funny? Let me guess, you’re a lion, too.”
“Nope. Dragon.” She took a step back and backed right into him. Kaleb told Vinnie to behave. “I’m being very nice. When Samuel called me, I was in the middle of a huge project. I’m a little on the tense side. I don’t care for humans on the whole, and cops I hate.”
When Thor took a step toward Vinnie, Kaleb stopped her by pulling her back. “We don’t really have time for a large debate here. When this is all over, you two can talk your differences over, and I’ll patch up the winner.”
“ You think he can take me?” He glanced at Vinnie, who winked at him. Kaleb knew then what he’d been doing. Kaleb could already feel that the tension in her was less. “I’m pretty sure I can take him.”
“ You think?” Vinnie looked her up and down and grinned. “Maybe, but when you come to fight me, perhaps you should button your shirt better. You’ll distract me this way.”
When Kaleb turned her around , he realized that without a bra on, she was pretty exposed to them, and the fact that he hadn’t buttoned her shirt properly caused most of her creamy flesh to be exposed. And the nice little suckle mark that he’d given her was right there in the opening. Thor smacked his hands away when he reached for her to redo them.
“ I’ve got it. Damn it all to hell.” The door moving had them all turning, and he nearly shoved her behind him when he realized he might get shot if he did. Her gun was pointed right at the door about where a heart would be on a man if he came in. Kaleb lowered her gun when he heard Samuel speak.
“We have to move. Now,” Samuel said as he moved into the room.
“I’m taking you to my house.” She nodded at him , and he pulled her to him. A quick kiss to her mouth had her standing there looking at him until he closed her mouth. She glared.
“I’m not having sex with you.” He simply nodded at her when she continued to stand there. “I mean it. I had a small loss of my senses , but I’m okay now.”
“You and I are going back to my house , and I’m taking you right to bed. Once I have you there, I’m going to make love to you all the rest of the day and mostly through the night.” When Samuel cleared his throat, Kaleb realized that they weren’t alone. He’d completely forgotten about everything when he touched her. “Ready?”
Thor stood there for several seconds. He was sure she was trying to figure out if he was talking about them in bed or was she ready to leave. As soon as he got her home, he’d show her just how persuasive he could be. As they moved through the hospital and to the waiting car out front, she never spoke to him, but she didn’t really need to. He could feel her turmoil as if it were his own. They were bonded now.
The ride to his house was made mostly in silence. When she spoke, it was to answer a question someone asked her, but for the most part she ignored him. Kaleb was fine with that for now. She was a tad
