    She nods again, and swallows nervously. “I’m afraid you might be angry with me,” she starts, “I mean, I’m not sure how you’re going to feel about this, but I can’t keep it from you any longer. You see…”
    I don’t let her finish, because there’s no way I’m going to let her confess her indiscretion to me. “Are you pregnant, darling?” I ask, making sure she can hear the happiness in my voice. “Because if you are, I want you to know how pleased that I am about it.”
    Her eyes lift to mine and she’s searching for the truth.
    She finds it.
    “Yes, Hayden, I am and I felt you…”
    Again, I don’t let her finish, because this moment is hers and it won’t be spoiled. I pull her against me, stroking her hair gently, and nuzzling the top of her head. “You don’t know how happy you’ve made me, Jade,” I say softly to her.
    “But what about Emily?” she asks quietly.
    “What about her?”
    “Will she give you a divorce, Hayden?”
