exercise. She intended to keep it this
way.
I can maintain control with him. I can.
But a little voice whispered to her, Who are you trying
to convince? He had you at ‘hello’.
She shook it off, dug out a flirty smile and waited for his
answer.
He hesitated a moment, a strange look on his face, one she
couldn’t identify. Then he nodded. “Okay. Good thing I cleaned up this
morning.”
She knew the neighborhood where he lived, of course, one
with older homes and large trees. Many of the people who’d bought these homes
has remodeled them and/or enlarged them. Alex’s was a distinctive Craftsman
bungalow, dark green with pale green trim. A huge oak tree in the front yard
provided shade for the porch. Livy could imagine herself sitting on that porch
on a warm Texas day, sipping iced tea, or maybe a chilled glass of wine, Alex’s
arm around her—
Stop it, you moron. He only wants to get you into bed.
Take it for what it is, scratch that itch and move on to business.
Alex pulled into the garage then motioned for her to park in
the driveway.
“I know it’s a two car garage,” he told her, but the other half
is taken up by what I can only call stuff.”
    “Stuff?” She raised an eyebrow.
“Uh huh. Everything from my lawnmower to ski equipment I
haven’t used in three years.”
“I didn’t know you skied,” she commented as she got out of
her car.
    “We had a project—a ski village—going in Colorado so I had a
lot of opportunity then. Not so much anymore.”
“You’ll probably get a chance while the project is being
built. I’m sure you flew into Jackson Hole when you went out to walk the
property and discovered it’s only half an hour away. One of the finest ski
lodges in the world is there.”
“I’m planning on it.” He held her elbow as they walked up to
the porch. “Do you ski?”
“Mm hmm. Maybe we can take in the slopes together.” If I
don’t screw this up.
    “Sounds good to me.”
He unlocked the door and ushered her inside. Her eyes
widened at the gleaming hardwood floors, the intricate baseboards and ceiling
molding, the wide windows that looked out to the backyard. She wished it wasn’t
so dark so she could see what was out there. Even the balustrade for the stairs
looked as if it has been restored and refinished. The walls were a soft cream,
the furniture casual and welcoming.
Her eyes popped when he showed her the kitchen. Every
appliance was top of the line, the counters granite, the floor exquisite tile.
    “I thought you didn’t cook?”
He chuckled. “I don’t. I’m hoping some woman will fall in
love with my kitchen and marry me for it.”
At the word marry her stomach clenched and she forced
herself to relax.
“You seem edgy.” Alex pulled her around to face him. “You
can still change your mind, you know. There’s no penalty for that.”
She shook her head. “Not on your life.”
In the next instant his mouth came down on hers, soft at
first, just brushing against it. Then it became hard and insistent, his tongue
brushing the seam of her closed lips until she opened for him and he swept
inside. His tongue was like a flame, burning her every place it touched and
scorching her clear to her toes. He glided across her tongue, inviting her to
dance with him and she did, willingly. Gladly.
Time stopped, nothing existing except for her and this man.
One of his large hands slid down her back, making gentle
circles until it reached her buttocks, then squeezing her cheek gently. She
clenched the muscles of her ass at his touch and tried to push herself closer
to him. He was hard all over, especially the thick length of his cock probing
at her through the fabric of his slacks. She wanted to touch it with her hands,
wrap her lips around it, feel it filling her cunt, stretching her inner
muscles.
But she also didn’t want him to stop kissing her. Ever. She
couldn’t remember a kiss in her life that electrified her so, that woke up
every one of her senses
