contents scattered across the top of the unit.
“It looks like everything’s here.”
“Rayven’s sat with the children. She insisted that she took the cage, and came over.”
“Thanks Quick Draw, I’ll be down in a moment.”
While we had been standing in Ellie’s room, Adam had turned up. He had taken one look of the room, and then began scribbling in his notepad, throwing questions into the room, which Ellie answered.
“Ellie, we need to pack some of this stuff up, and take it with us.”
Vaguely, Ellie nodded her head as she left the room. Although Ellie has left, Adam continues to question us. His gaze never leaving mine. You lost out you bastard, and you are not getting another chance. I do not know, if the nod, Adam gave, has anything to do with the break-in, or if he could read my face. When abruptly he left the room.
“Any idea who’s behind this?”
Inferno’s inquiry, following on from Adams questioning, did not surprise me.
Yeah, I had an idea, and he wasn’t going to get away with it. Burglaries were one thing. This violation of Ellie’s room, was something else.
“I’ll deal with it.”
“No, we deal with this as a club.”
“Come on, let’s lock up. You need to rescue Ellie from Rayven, and we’ll leave Sundance to watch the place tonight.”
“Thanks, Tabby.”
The only acknowledgement Tabby gives, is a nod of his head as he leaves the room.
Tonight would be Ellie’s first visit to my apartment, and so she followed me, with Dec, riding up in the rear. As soon as we arrived at the apartment block, Dec gave a wave, before he rode on. Satisfied that he was not staying. I again took Amelia into my arms, who was half asleep. Toby was wide awake, and his chatter was going ten to the dozen, mainly because he was unaware of what was happening.
I live in a one bedroom apartment. Fortunately, I had a large studio bed, which the kids could zone out on. Gently laying Amelia at one end, I left her to her mother’s mercy, as I went off to find blankets. Toby was at my heels, asking questions. The only other child, I have ever been around, as young as this, had been Trax, and I do not remember him, asking as many questions.
“Do you like my Mama?”
“Yes.”
The silence lasted as long as it took me to take a couple of blankets from out of the cupboard.
“Why are we sleeping here?”
“Because we’re having an adventure.”
“Can I have a go on your bike?”
“No. Now leave Nick alone and let’s get you undressed.”
Toby threw me an exasperated look, as he shuffled over to his mother’s side, to sit on the couch and began to remove his shoes.
“Where’s my PJ’s.?”
“You’ll have to sleep in your underwear tonight Toby.”
“I’m thirsty.”
This time it was Ellie, who threw me the exasperated look. By turning my head, I managed to hide the smile, which was breaking out, and went off to the kitchen to fetch a glass of milk for the boy and made coffee for Ellie and myself.
Ellie continued to sit on the couch, her legs bent under her fine ass, as Toby lay his head on her knee, and she stroked his hair. As I flicked through the television channels, and finally came across a station, which was suitable for the boy, I gave a small prayer of thanks that I paid for the multi-channel service.
It was a Saturday night, a night, I normally spent at the club, not sat at home watching television with a kid of seven. It was a sublime experience, to watch a movie with a child. Which, was something I would not have believed, if someone had told me this is how I would be spending a Saturday night. The constant questions and interruptions, which began to slow down towards the end, as Toby finally fell asleep. The strangest thing was, I had not minded. I had enjoyed my night. Ellie, had just sat back and left us both to chat.
“Come on, he’s asleep.”
“This is crazy Nick. We could have spent the night at the house. I could have slept on the couch.”
“Don’t
